Wishing him fast recovery. Parents are more important than anything. I miss my mom and always gave priority to my work but at end I realize it that I miss all the moments and opportunities to be with her.
I'm glad your dad is well! Take it easy mate, it works out in the end, just stay hungry.
Don’t get caught up in the rat race, you’ll never be satisfied
I hope your dad gets well soon !
No need to be upset about your raise. If you think you deserve more, go test the market.
So sorry to hear OP. Praying for your dad's swift recovery. As we are all sharing thanks today I just wanted to share that my mom was hospitalized earlier this year. I work as a healthcare consultant and know that a hospital is the worst place to take someone when they are sick (being filled in a place with other sick people can make your immune system have to fight other foreign diseases...it's not pretty). But we had to admit her since she ended up catching a really severe version of the flu and had pneumonia. I've been in consulting for 4.5 years. When my dad told me she was being hospitalized I dropped everything at work and came straight home (I decided to live at home since starting this job since my account requires travel to different places). I can't say how thankful I am and was at the time to my team & client who all gave me the flexibility to take care of things at home. Mind you this year I worked with the partners on my account to fast track my promotion to manager while all of this was going on. Long story short, I made manager this year, but not impressed with my base comp. I'm looking in the market for other opportunities to demonstrate my value to the firm. Don't forget about everyone that helped you get to where you are. People lose sight of that when looking at their compensation and forget about how they got to where they are. This includes family and friends who supported you mentally and emotionally.
Thanks A4, thanks everyone
