nothing. collect ya checks and move on. literally nothing you can do in that situation...black excellence is the scariest thing to them.
Apart of me is glad they got to see it for themselves
To be honest, after reading these post replies, I feel much better. The idea of that kind of hateful person being jealous of my excellence is definitely empowering.
I wouldn’t have been that affected personally but def would’ve used it as an excuse to go home early 😅
Laugh.
You're obviously a MUCH better person than they'll ever be.
Sorry that happened to you bro/sis, you shouldn’t have to put up with that. Feel what you feel don’t feel pressured to brush if off
All I would have said to my colleagues was “Welcome to America"
Oh my God. American racism is alive and well so much for a post racial society. As a black DOS I never fell for that con any way. What could you do absolutely nothing. This is America
They were just as shocked as me... One of the younger ones wanted to run after the car, but I obviously had to shut that down. The whole rest of the walk into the building was them just saying how sorry THEY were that I had to experience such an awful thing.
There was nothing you could have done.
This happened to me in college one time in 2005 at night while walking from the library. I tend not to let stupid people affect me and I refuse to chase after a car so I just kept it moving....and hoped we ran into each other again face to face.
Tis unfortunate that you had to experience that but as D1 mentioned This is America and there’s not much that could have been done in that situation.
How did your non-black counterparts react?
Most importantly how are you processing this? What did they say or do?
I’d have turned to my colleagues and said, “I told you I was famous!”
