Watching this American football game by myself. It’s fun and all, but wish someone could explain the nuances of the game so I could appreciate it better.

Think rugby league with obstruction and forward pass.

It is a lot closer to American football. The unopposed scrums and lack of rucking make it a totally different game.

It honestly takes years until you really start to understand a lot of the nuances. Even then there are always more minute details to learn

Really?! I have looked for this forever! I will email teams, thanks!

Please don’t take this as condescending… Nickelodeon (a kids channel) runs NFL games once in a while. The broadcast is excellent and they explain all of the rules and what’s happening in ways that are super accessible. I’ve watched football most of my life, and we watched it just for fun. I learned a few new things myself! Highly recommend if you’re trying to get better at interpreting the game

Nice

Are there any sports you know? Reference points ares usually helpful. For instance, knowing football made it really clear to me that rugby was where football came from when I started playing rugby.

That’s how I feel about watching rugby. I’ve even googled the rules and cannot wrap my head around it. The best way to learn football is to get out play it with some friends is my advice.
