We all make good money. But what are some of your most frugal habits?

Krazy Koupon Lady, Groupon, other coupons. Thrift or buy on Facebook Marketplace before I buy something new. Reuse or repurpose stuff I already have (i.e. used a moon cake metal box to store my makeup lol). I also try not to buy stuff I think I need. I read about the Diderot Effect recently and it’s been eye-opening. Buying one thing that is different and new compared to other possessions you own compels you to purchase new things to match that one new thing you just bought.

Also adding water to my bath products when they’re about to run out. Like soap and shampoo so I use ALL of it.

I cook dinner at home when in town, walk or take my bike for nearby stores, reuse, recycle and repurpose whatever I can, use hotel points for all my holiday stays, switch off AC when weather is good, buy food items in very limited quantity sounds costly but cheaper than Costco where you throw stuff away as no one can consume everything you buy there! Being frugal is actually being environmentally conscious.

Very true! I made an active decision to stop caring about small expenditures so much, but then I found that I still wanted to make all those “frugal” decisions... but mostly because otherwise it would be wasteful and non-environmentally friendly!

I have not purchased soap or shampoo in the last 5 years. I bring them from hotels and use them at home...

I donate all the extras I get to my local homeless shelter.

Use plastic bags from grocery stores for trash bags. Have never purchased garbage bags

Actually there was a study on banning plastic bags and they noticed that in municipalities where plastic bags are banned - a spike is noticed in the sale of trashbags

I dont tip uber drivers

I take adderall and it keeps my food bill low

Wait… So that’s why I’m never hungry?

I have kept and wear clothing for over 25 years... some of it is now coming back in style! 👩🏼‍💼

Me too for shirts. For pants, I recently stocked up at Costco for $9.99 each.

I drive a Honda from the year 2000, and don't plan to buy a new one until it dies.

I’m broke bruh. I don’t know where you’re getting “we all make good money” idea from.

Haha C1: I respect it tho. 💪🏽

Don’t own a car

@L1 That is the way. I don’t like driving and only do it, if I have to. This has helped me avoid many bad travel projects.

I’ve never bought napkins. I just grab a bunch from chipotle each time I go

THIS. I’m 35 with 2 kids and still keep a drawer of Chipotle napkins!

Going on dates for free food (im single)

@d21 slide into my dms buddy

I dont buy condoms. Saves me 15 bucks a month or 180 a year.

Accenture 7 - yep. Pharmacist told me once when I was checking out + google search confirmed it.

Getting Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple Music, and HBO free trials and then cancelling once trial is up.

Buffstreams has great free NFL and NBA streams

I religiously live off of Marriott hotel food

My life was never the same when I realised one can get 4 uses from each fresh pair of underwear

"may I follow you wherever you go" - as long as it's at a distance...

Buy clothes from outlet stores / hunt for deals.

I save and reuse dental floss

Only 2 uses

Hi there -

I am trying to move into the OD realm, do you all have any guidance on good conferences (besides the OD Network) and any certs that can help out? Any and al advice is welcome!

How do I know when I should raise my rate? I don’t want to box myself out of jobs, but I would like more money...

Who else here finds maintaining executive presence and driving meetings exhausting? I am completely drained after leading even just a 30 minute meeting. I’m fine if I’m just presenting analysis etc., but when I’m leading meetings it gets tough to maintain energy and keep things going. It’s not for lack of practice as I’ve been leading meetings on my engagements for years, but it hasn’t gotten any easier. I’m a likely promotion year this year so I know expectations are only going to get higher.

So, I’m actually excited to go home for thanksgiving....

Just a friendly self-reminder 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I haven’t negotiated job offer before and trying to help my spouse with an offer in healthcare and would love your advice: she told them upfront her range was 75-80k and they said that was fine, and she was offered 72k. Even on Glassdoor, the average salary for her position at this company is 75k. Additionally, she has to pay her old company 5k to leave. How should she make the case for both a salary raise to 75-80k and a $5k sign on?
