Doesn’t make me feel anything, the company I work for is just as easily replaceable. It’s a two way street.
It makes quitting easier
This. While I like my job, if I was truly pushed past my limit I would just put my notice in shortly thereafter. I wouldn't even hesitate doing it during busy season. Firms don't care when they fire people/reduce overhead so I don't care when I leave. Life goes on.
That’s true with almost every profession and always has been. I say get over it, compete, and make yourself as hard to replace as possible. The people that figure this out early on, while also fostering relationships, get rewarded. Something drove you to this profession and got you into your excellent firm - find it again! Attitude is everything!
Makes me prioritize - I'm not replaceable to my family.
You can lose custody against your kids. A step parent can replace if done right.
This post is replaceable!
Fine? Very few jobs in this world are truly irreplaceable
Makes me feel the same as any other day because this is painfully obvious.
Makes me feel humble and less important!
It’s good that you’re aware as some people have no idea.
Like any other job...
At least it’s not all up to you to make the world go around
I don't think people are replaceable but positions can be filled again. As a leader, if you're using this line with people, you're not doing your job right. It's a demoralizing, untrue, and unnecessary thing to say.
The job’s as replaceable as we are so it’s ok, just exit and you’ll feel better
Personally, I feel very relieved by the thought. Like, I know if I mess up, drop the ball, or have to say no to something, that's not the end of the world.
And, furthermore, the fact that my coworkers do keep reaching out to me is a sign that I'm continuing to do things well that they prefer to come to me first
