I bill overages when clients do not give us timely info.
^ nothing the audit team loves more than bugging the client about the tax requests 🙄
*and make sure the client knows that at several steps leading up to the billing.
I set milestone deadlines in my SOWs, note when we need to receive data and how in order to be able to deliver on time. In other words, I make timely data receipt a condition precedent of EY performance. Few people realize that you can work with TQRM to modify sow language. Work with TALs to help communicate sow terms to clients.
Also present it as it is benefiting them to give you information early or if they don't get it to you by a certain date their may be delays or complications and the client won't be able to get the return by when they want it
If it's a client that the firm also audits, I give my pbc list to the audit team. Since they actually go to the client, it's easier for them to get the information.
If not, I just ask frequently and then give an ultimatum that we may not be to do the return if we don't receive the information by a certain date.
^ it’s efficient and cuts down coordination time. We usually agree on these arrangements in advance especially if there are multiple workstreams across service lines for the same client
Agree with giving the PBC list to audit. I don’t ask audit to follow up on my items since that’s my responsibility. The clients like it because they can pull all the documents at one time instead of pulling audit docs one week and then two weeks later having to pull tax docs.
I can't even. I have a client that asked back in June for us to provide accelerated drafts by July. They still haven't given us information when it's now almost November. We have made it clear that a 4 to 5 week turnaround is the minimum time frame needed and that is if no unexpected issues pop up. Obviously issues will pop up because they always do. We have been following up every week because they keep promising they will give information by "next week".
