We are trying for another baby and we plan to want to move by this time next year. I was curious - does it make sense to set up a nursery if we would plan on having the baby in our room from the time they are born until they turn a year? I did set up a nursery for my daughter but knowing we are moving - I know I’m jumping the gun here. I’m just trying to process all the big changes and it’s probably just me overthinking. My office is the one that will have to be changed to a nursery

I wouldn’t bother. As you mentioned, the baby will be sleeping in the bassinet for at least the first 6 months to the first year. If anything, maybe set aside a closet or area so any gifts that you receive for the new baby can go there

like

Personally I’d hold off. Hard to know how long u til you conceive and you’ll probably use your office throughout most of the pregnancy anyway. If you’re moving, I’d put the energy and time into the new house and make a room for new baby there

like

Ohh yeah I wasn’t planning on doing it today but I mean eventually when I’m pregnant when that would be. I think that honestly it would make sense to wait until moving because my office would be downstairs then

I wouldn’t prepare one now - you’d just be creating more work for yourself. For my daughter, I didn’t even finish her nursery until after she was born when I was on maternity leave. So many people were shocked, but I knew I wasn’t going to use it for months and I had more free time while on maternity leave than I did the few months leading up to it, so it made more sense to wait.

I think it's nice to have an actual nursery, even if the baby won't be sleeping in there on a nightly basis for a while. But that's just me and you could also probably do without if you don't think you need one and if you need the office more. You could also do a hybrid office/nursery (desk on one wall, changing table/dresser on the other wall, a play mat and toys in a corner, etc.)

I’d just wait and see how all the timing plays out. I wouldn’t convert the office for 2 months of nursery use, but we moved our baby to naps in her nursery & overnight sleep before 6 months. Plus I needed somewhere to store all her stuff. That said, not worth converting a room if you’ll only be in the house a short amount of time after baby is born. Bug hard to say until you conceive, sell your house and buy a new house what all that timing will look like.

Do you think all these violent and hate filled attacks are because people aren't getting the emotional/mental support they need, whether it's therapy at any age or help they needed but didn't get from a social worker as a child? My coworker is sure this is the case, but I honestly think there's actually something deeper wrong either with how these people are being raised as children, or how the warning signs these people give off are ignored or swept under the rug to save face.

Approved by doctor/HR to remain remote and it’s not going over well( we were told we would remain remote, which included giving up our desks, but are now being asked to come in two days). The person who seemed the most annoyed by my request is my direct boss. I found it odd because she announced she was only doing one day because she was pregnant and the director was basically like “ok”. I don’t want to put a target on my back and I do enjoy the work. Should I just bite the bullet and come in?
