I mean that’s just not true? Both Clinton and Obama made huge pushes for universal health care and took huge losses for it. While Paul Ryan was trying privatize social security.
One party cares about social welfare spending, the other wants to cut it (they just don’t talk about it anymore).
The two parties differ in policy quite a bit.
