We had CPR/first aid training yesterday. Fortunately, I've never had to deal with more than minor scrapes, but I'm glad we receive training regularly. Have you ever had to use first aid/CPR training?

Thankfully, I never have in 25 years of working with children. Never hurts to be prepared though.

I had a first grader choke on a hamburger and had to do the Heimlich to get it out. I had a kindergartener have a seizure and went in the ambulance to the hospital. We couldn't get in touch with the parents so I went with the child and stayed until parents got to the hospital. Then I had another teacher pick me up and I went back to school. Very scary day for that one, but I did get to explain to kindergarten that their friend was fine and would be back to school soon.

I have not in 14 years, thank God! 🙏🏾

Yes, twice

I've had to stay with a child until the nurse came more than once, because I am CPR certified I did. After 4 years I have not ever used it.

Nope

Yep. Good stuff to know. And there are ways to teach young children.

Monday morning and the only thing that goes through my mind is wow I hate my job. Between the strict requirement of releasing billing time daily, high billable goal and I guess a heavy workload (and everything that comes with living through a pandemic) it’s hard to start my day excited for work. And I hate it. Makes me question why I’m doing this for a living.

Thoughts on leaving a job without another one lined up? Someone (a guy, no need for me to hide the lead here) seemed to suggest that women could be viewed as “flighty” for leaving without a plan. I sincerely never considered that framing and now I’m nervous. I have a mental “end date” from my current firm and had planned on at least a few months break but was somewhat assuming I’d leave on my anticipated end date even if I didn’t have a firm offer. Should I hold off instead?

What’s the right amount of time to give my firm notice I’m lateraling? I work high volume transactional (30-60 day closings). I get “long enough to close out or pass off active matters” but my firm would tell me that it’s always a bad time to leave and it’s going to negatively affect the group cause they won’t be able to handle the volume and/or I’m going to be screwing over fellow associates. A month seems too long. The standard (?) two weeks seems abrupt.
