I recently accepted a job offer for $85,000.The offer letter stated, “your gross semi-monthly salary shall be $3,541.66 which is equivalent to $85,000.00 per annum”.I signed/accepted.Today I received my first pay check and noticed my gross semi-monthly salary was 3,269.23.
I expected 3,541.66 to be the gross as stated in my offer letter. After using a salary calculator I realized that a mistake was made on my offer letter. 3,541.66 is equivalent to 92,068.60/yr. What do I do? I want my $3,541.66
He has his own teacher and 2 aides? Are they full time with him? I don’t understand how this would happen if he has 3 adults with him or assigned to him.
I am a LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist/SPED teacher) so I need a little more information to help.
From what I have read, the best advise is to keep track of outbursts or severe issues. Nothing really formal, just on a spreadsheet or Word doc or whatever. By doing so you are collecting solid data you can take to admin to show exactly what is happening. Admin and SPED folks love data. From there the team can decide where to place him.
This is also a safety concern for him, other students and staff.
I think an FBA evaluation would be valuable.

Different district and years ago, we had a kid prone to setting fires. Had a one on on full time aid assigned to him but every once in a while he would get away long enough to start a fire. It would always be found and extinguished pretty quickly
In that building and district, that was pretty much just one of many stories I could tell.
I feel like we need more alternative settings for these extreme cases. I also once tutored one on one with an 8th grade boy for almost a year before I found out he was a sexual predator of younger boys!! My own son goes to the same school!!
My first year of teaching, (25 years ago) I had a similar situation with a student who crawled on the floor and meowed like a cat, rubbing on things etc. We were supposed to “ignore” her 😂😂😂. I should have known then that it wouldn’t change.
Whoever is his case manager really needs to collaborate closely with his parents about his triggers and routines. The same routine needs to be followed at school every day until he is used to it, and with any changes he needs to be in a sensory room or stay home (drills, differing activity day schedule, etc.). They also need to be sure that he doesn’t need something like headphones to cancel out sensory overload.
It's always hard when a kid is destructive and it seems like everyone in in the building is prey and there isn't much you can do....no consequences for the student or parent. If the Principal charged the parent for all the destruction it would stop. PBIS has ruined our school....the worst kids get rewarded while the best kids go unnoticed. Our school system doesn't want any kind of Principal with a bite to them, hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil....
At my school this student would have a 1-on-1 with him at all times.
This student is 1 on 3. 1 teacher and 2 aides for one child.

We have ABA behavior specialists, Autism Specialists, psych support and additional support people who work with students who have extreme behaviors to help them be able to be in a classroom.
He should have a smaller place where his aides,TA and helpers can get the assignments from his teachers so that they can help. Of course, it will require coming up with a plan that would require constant communication with his other teachers, liaison and everyone included in his case as well.
Collaboration strongly plays an important role in this matter. I will send them an email about the steps you would like to take this year and Cc it to anyone who is in charge of the Special Ed. Department. What about bringing that up to a higher level? It doesn’t seem that you are winning.
Is your district using PBIS?

Yes! We have k-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-12 cross categorical centers for district students only.
We also house ACT 18 programs which include ASD and CI programs for every grade level, it houses students from surrounding districts. Our district houses cross cat center programs for LD, EI, Speech, OHI, etc kids.
For our local center programs we have to collect 8-12 weeks of data, then submit an application to our spec Ed Dept.
Good luck!
