Lol. You assume your interview process is better than your platforms at weeding out fakes?

You need more experience with interns. It would set you the right level of expectations.

My last intern fell asleep at her desk and said she was “resting her eyes” so

Internships require active mentoring. Talk to them about what their interests are and find tasks that they are excited about. Be available and help them past walls they hit in their solution. Set goals and milestones and setup recurring meetings to measure progress.

How long have you had them? Interns often have NO FREAKING IDEA how the work-place works. You will need to hold their hand a lot. Even fresh hires out of college struggle to keep up with all of the information you give them. (even though retaining it may be their full-time job, and only your part-time job)

makes me mad reading this as a former intern at spotify. i worked weekends and late nights voluntarily to add value to my team and up-skill myself. Also was told since day 1 full time conversion was not guaranteed so that added the extra push for me lol

No interview process is perfect. I've seen some people get hired who had no business getting the job.

Resume/LinkedIn question: I am a senior student graduating in a couple of months. I am going to join Google this fall as a SWE. My previous work experience includes an internship at Google, and a summer spent working on open source (PostgreSQL) during Google Summer of Code. In addition to a lot of college coursework projects (CE major). Most of these projects are worth mentioning and they cover a diverse range of fields. At what point should I drop coursework projects from my Resume/LinkedIn?

A&M fishes do you feel pressure while taking vacations as your comp is tied to billable hours? Also what’s the policy on remote work, can people work from another country (eg. How much stock do you put on benefits? I have two offers with stark differences in benefits. Job 1: role I want, but benefit sucks (2 weeks paternity leave, 20% coinsurance). Job 2: role is okay but higher level and great benefits (16 weeks paternity, 0% coinsurance, 5 more days of vacation). Total comp is the same though. I wonder if I should just focus on role but Job 2 is a large company, so I can move around after 2-3 years I’d expect. Thoughts?
