This is a shower thought / confession: Sometimes I feel like I’m not very smart compared to my peers, but then I see some of the face palm inducing questions being asked on Fishbowl and realize some of these are from the same people making north of 250k a year. The lesson I’ve learned is never sell yourself short!
After yesterday, this is my thought: I need to check with my students mentally first, the lesson can wait or be done tomorrow. Oxford High School is 21 miles from my school.

How do you become a fullstack developer? Why exactly is it so hard for people to understand that ESL and Special Education teachers are in fact that: teachers? I'm bilingual so I constantly get called in to translate for parents in the office as well because it's so hard to get a hold of the district interpreter. Today I was teaching a lesson that took us on a scavenger hunt around the building and the nurse stopped me. "Oh! This is why I couldn't get a hold of you, you're playing!" What? I tilted my head and replied, "I'm TEACHING."
I cheated. Been keto for 1.5 weeks. Had 1/4 apple danish and a cookie for dinner. How far did I set myself back? (On the plus side I learned my lesson - body not reacting well to carbs currently 😟)
Still facing a $17k loss on PSTH. Should I cut bait? Learned my lesson already but unsure if I should continue to ride it out.
My personal PC hard drive crashed - taking with it 8 years of family pics, among other things. Backup lesson learnt. Having said that, data recovery specialists are asking for $900 to recover drive contents. What would you do? No-brainer for me, but other thoughts?

Is there any American History Teachers out there using this text book? I'm retiring and the end of this year, and want to pass on Lessons and very cool Crossword Puzzles I've made for every section of this book! I realize mine is the Florida edition. But pretty sure any state edition's text will be the same. I'm not sure the easiest way to get them to you. I'll figure that out if anyone is interested!
Serious question. I started developing symptoms of covid last Friday. This included fatigue which worsened last Saturday. The next couple of days it got better but I started to develop cold symptoms such as runny nose, phlegm, and nasal congestion around Tuesday. I finally tested on Wednesday and came out positive. It’s been over a week since my first symptom, but I’m not sure when to test again to see if I am positive.
Which do you think is harder: distractions/distracting students in the classroom or students being disengaged online? Distractions in the classroom used to be a HUGE problem for me and now I miss the energy of a classroom!

How do you divide your time between your kids? My second is an extra needy and demanding, high spirited kid. My first is laidback and easy going. I always feel like the eldest gets the short end of the stick and never gets enough of my attention even tho she’s always been more attached to me than my husband. She never gets one-on-one time with me as it is since her sister (now 2) is still super glued to my side. Any suggestions for juggling this? Or to ease the mom guilt?
Hi everyone! I'm looking to emerge into the IT tech field and have recently completed the CompTIA A+ as well as Okta and Google certifications. I currently work in customer service and utilize a lot of tech and SaaS tools but other then training for the certifications I have very little experience as an IT administrator. I just landed an interview with a San Francisco based tech company as an IT engineer, and I'm looking for any interview advice and salary suggestions if I'm asked? Thanks!

Folks who fly in business/first class to India how do you handle the expenses? A round trip for a family of 3 is at least $10k. Do you have/use any hacks? Opening up a new credit card every year doesn’t sound feasible.
Friendly reminder. YOE alone doesn't determine your salary. Your Experience in those years does. This is why some Juniors are also banging great packages. If you know, you will grow.
So the expense policy says Thursday night dinners in between the airport and your house are “typically not reimbursable.” Who gets to make that call? I’ve always picked up takeout on the way home but

I have a brief resume gap from near the beginning of covid but have been at a new employer for >1 year. I’ve been asked about said gap during in-house interviews, but it’s generally been cursory and I give the explanation agreed upon by former employer. Was pressed a bit harder recently by being asked “will x former employer confirm [the story]?” Is this in and of itself a bad sign? Are they trying to catch a lie?
New consultant here - when people talk about Strategy & Operations, what exactly is the operations side and what do they do? Coming from the perspective of the B4 firms having the more prestigious S&O group, but also having a separate supply chain/operations group? What’s the difference between the two ops groups?
