Do it. Your kids will remember it!
I haven’t gone since precovid, but for me the uncomfortable part was standing outside in the cold. Sounds like you have the worst of it figured out since you’ll be in a warm office!

You’re going to be in the office not among the big crowds so why worry? Definitely plan for more people than usual on the subway. But nothing too crazy. I’m sure it’ll be a neat experience for them. Have fun
I have watched the parade from an office along the route. It was awesome and the only way to watch the parade live in my opinion. It’ll be a bit crowded to get there but 💯 worth it. It’s also a very cool perspective depending on where the office is and what floor you’ll be on.

That could be cool
Take your kids out! Don't let your worrying rob them of a great experience.

That context helps a lot. I was going to say go, but my memorable experience was when I just turned 6. It was fun, energetic, and joyful but travel sucked — and we lived in East Harlem.
My girls are about the same age-gap apart. Maybe the 28 month old will enjoy it if they have a favorite character with a balloon. But that sounds like a 2-stroller experience, or Ubers with surge pricing. My oldest will be 5 soon, and is starting to show recall more consistently.
We have evidence of circuses, and experiences like Trolls we did with her at 2–until the pandemic and then her sister was born. But our youngest is now 26 months and was more into snacks than the Disney on Ice show our 4 year old sang along throughout.
Unless you know your commute is in a car, and the kids are already early risers, you might be signing up for a stressful morning.

Which train would you be taking?
Yes thinking we go early to hang out and leave halfway into parade.
