We made it to the weekend, HR fam! Or in my case, barely made it 😂😬. What are you doing to take care of yourself this weekend? I’ll go first: quiet evening with my husband tonight - may visit a brewery. Then some much needed time in nature tomorrow. We carry heavy burdens for our orgs, often without having a safe place to share our own burdens. I’m cheering all of you on as you make work better every day ❤️

Thanks HR manager! We haven’t been able to have a real celebration since the pandemic hit us before he the first bday! Although, i tried making it a huge celebration…. 90% of the attendees canceled and a total of 1 kid showed up. tsk tsk. It is what it is

I was either thanked or apologized to by three different people this week, including my boss, for them ranting to me. I always say "that's what I'm here for", and I'm glad that my office is a safe space for others.

This weekend, I'll be hanging out with my 4yo son and husband. I think we have a graduation party for family tomorrow, but otherwise just relaxing at home!

Oh it is so wonderful that your colleagues see the value you bring! I often say that my favourite part of my job is helping people navigate the messy times.

AHHH the weekend is always gone too soon. Hope everyone had a good Monday.

So I know that a lot of people are saying that EY is doing non performance based layoffs but I'm having a hard time believing that considering that I was just placed on a PIP last week. I want to move into management and I have been told the generic advice of "Act like you have the role already and then get it". How have other people proved they are ready for a manager role?

I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. We are a larger independent agency in several low cost of living markets. Our people are being recruited by agencies in larger, more expensive markets. Anywhere from 30-60k more for low to mid range positions and being told they can WFH permanently. How are you handling hiring WFH positions? Are most of you now hiring all talent to WFH in all states/locations?

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks - lauren

There’s one type of behaviour in the recruitment community that completely baffles me - recruiters or headhunters messaging you out of the blue, asking for a call and the completely disappearing (and even ghosting you) when you answer them. I’m wondering if they care at all about their personal and company reputation? Not helping the HR community reputation either.
