Starting a new job and rethinking my retirement contributions. So far have put between 7-10% of my salary into a 401k over the last two years, debating if a Roth IRA is something I should consider. New firm matches 3% to 401k, will be making 123k. Thoughts?
Started a new remote entry level job with very minimal training. I am fresh out of school and thinking what is the best way for me to learn my role, duties, and tasks with no training and being remote. How will I succeed if in order to do the job I need to be trained.
What is a great side hustle to make a part-time salary on the side where you are only working remote for around 10 hrs per week?
How easy is it to settle a case when working at a plaintiff’s firm? (Please excuse my lack of knowledge here.) I read about how much people hate litigation/are trying to get out and then I have friends who talk about how they want to go to the plaintiff’s side because you can make a percentage of your settlements AND there are no billable requirements. I’m in the former boat of trying to leave litigation altogether to go into corporate law. Is it all just “the grass is greener” talk?
A1-A2 tax, 6% raise and 3% VC. Thoughts?
I am in transition mode and currently in a few interview loops. I am currently looking for Senior level positions in Learning & Development. What salary range should I be asking for? Currently looking for Partner or Consultant in the title.
Is PwC still continuing with layoffs?
Hello Fishes, Hope you all are great! I need a referral in PwC India, PwC. Anybody who would be kind to volunteer? I would be grateful. Thank you.
Got fired from ideal $260k wfh job within my first year because I didn’t hit sales numbers. Left scrambling to find a job before YE and found a $200k, no sales, wfh job. Take or keep looking?
Let this marinate: First-year associates at Cravath and DPW in NYC are making the same money as their peers at Holland & Knight in, let’s say, Jacksonville. Makes you wonder how much the NY firms could really afford to pay. Also makes you want to beat the system, FIRE for 8 years in a secondary market making NYC money, and retire at 35. 😂
Who has a pre-interview ritual they'd like to share? Not sure what to do except twiddle my thumbs and watch tik tok videos to distract myself from the anxiety : )
Has anyone had experience with former employer forgetting to take them off the payroll? Recently started a new job and I think my former employer forgot to take me off the payroll. I got a regular pay check for a pay period with dates after my last day. What do I do? I am nervous about dealing with taxes that were already paid on my behalf for that paycheck and money deposited into my 401K which I was planning on closing (moving money to IRA). Has this happened to anyone?
What would you wear to a law association holiday party? It’s not a sit down dinner - more of a mingle, hors d’oeurves sort of event.
Working with an American client for the first time (🇫🇷 here). Finally got to receive the « please fix ». I feel like a real consultant now.
Interviewing for a manager role at Deloitte consulting human capital team. What’s the typical salary at this level?
I have worked hard for my American green card, and by god, I am grateful for it. 🙏🐒🐒🐒🐒🐒🐒
How do the few firms remaining in the AmLaw100 that have not matched market base compensation or bonuses justify not doing so at this point for at least the traditional NY/CA/DC offices?
