We shouldn’t go back to the classroom this Fall. I got positive for COVID from just hugging my sister who was asymptotic. This is Day 5 after I started showing symptoms. The first two days were hell. The hardest thing about this virus is how it affects your mental state.

I hope you are able to heal quickly. We have so many people out there insisting it’s fake or nothing to be worried about because they don’t anyone with it. I don’t know anybody denying it once they know or know of someone who actually had COVID. As a community and nation, we have to start taking it seriously.

Oh! I’m so sorry to hear! This virus is so lethal in many ways!!

like

I pray for your quick recovery and I will be voicing my concern believe me. I will admit I have done same with my brother , nephew and mom n dad with hugging . It goes to show that even the best measures and those who we know are following all protocols; we are all at risk . I have heard many talk about the mental fog and mental state the Covid brings to many. I wish you all the best in a quick and healthy recovery my dear colleague....

Omg! Hugs. Hang in there. Feel better soon. Thank you for sharing and giving us insight. Covid makes me so nervous and paranoid.

Me too!

Oh sweetheart. I hope you feel better soon. You're absolutely right, we shouldn't go back! It's too risky.

The asymptomatic folks are the monkey wrench in the plan. I hope you recover quickly, & thoroughly.

I worry that as a traveling teacher I could be a part of contaminating multiple schools. More needs to be done on procedural things at this point than instruction. Keeping people safe and social emotional health should be at the forefront of what we are doing.

like

Good point! I will be traveling to 8 schools to about a thousand students! This will make me even more vulnerable to the virus! I’m getting scared right now!!

like

I can only imagine the transmissions from being in a classroom with students.

like

Just to clarify. I didn’t hug my sister knowing she was sick. I hugged her because I didn’t think she was. And 5 days later. I got sick.

I’m sorry to hear that you got the virus! You mind sharing more about your symptoms? Is there anything you can take?

The flu effects people on a temporary basis, COVID-19 has been shown to have lasting effects. When is the last time that you knew someone that spent a week or even several days in the hospital? I don’t know about you, but those are medical bills that I am hard pressed to pay. Please use logical arguments when the flu is compared to COVID-19. Yes, it’s true that it has caused more deaths, but the effects of COVID, it’s ability to spread, the fact that some people are asymptomatic (spreading the virus), and the cost of recovering from the virus should give anyone pause about being in an enclosed space with the possibility of contracting it. I can empathize, I will be in the classroom this week. I don’t want to bring this virus back home or to my elderly parents. Think beyond yourself when you compare this to the flu and look at the information that is available about the virus and its many lasting effects.

I'm so sorry to hear you were infected. It sounds like you got the very specific and strange symptom of losing your taste/smell. How is your sister? Did anyone else in your family get it? I hope you feel better soon.

I heard that's a new symptom.

Agree! Prayers for your speedy recovery!

And they say antibody resistance is only good for up to 6months after recovery. So, you can get infected again. Medical Insurance rates will be insane next year.

like

Why? Almost no one is getting elective surgeries and people are avoiding the emergency room like the plague. A small percentage of people actually have to go to the hospital And most hospitals have announced a massive layoffs from lack of money.

Praying for a speedy and complete recovery.

I voiced my concerns about students being unmasked in the class. The response from administration was that they had heard too many parents argue that their child would not be wearing a mask in the classroom. I don’t know about other states, but when did Oklahoma become a state where the parents control the schools?

Low energy, nervous, dry mouth, reading off slides, hard to keep my mind in the bigger picture or focus on the story. Womp womp. Really getting me down and not sure how to get the magic back. Depressing.
