We want diversity for all creative work and a dynamic culture. But our clients demand we staff for specific multi cultural briefs. I hate having to approach diverse talent this way. Thoughts on how?

Mm, I don't think that's your answer to your own question, but will let others comment too. I think if you have a diverse staff to begin with by hiring this way as normal practice across, you won't be facing this particular scenario as you'd already have staff on board to form teams as needed vs. waiting for a multicultural brief to come along so you hire to specs. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're describing.

Explain that this type,of talent to brief matching makes your talent feel like tokens as they are then also Expected to be the union rep,for all people of similar background everywhere, and speak knowledgeably on behalf of all their peoples. Not real life.

I may have answered my own question: just tell people that. Would still love thoughts!

We are making progress, but it not diverse enough yet, and we are wanting to ensure our staff poc don’t get pigeon holed on these briefs. So we are freelancing and recruiting more and sometimes for these specific projects, which sucks but we have to get there somehow. I just want to make sure I’m approaching the talent in the best way possible with this. Thank you!

I recently got married and started talking to my sister in law more often. She addresses me as “Bro” EVERY SINGLE TIME. She knows I identify as female. I absolutely hate because it’s a sign of deeply ingrained patriarchy and I also find it disrespectful. I never address anyone as bro, dude, man etc because I honestly find it very disrespectful. I would rather be addressed by my name. How can I handle this situation? We are still forming a reltnship & don’t want to hurt that process. I’m Indian.
