Who’s checking how many days you’re in? If you’re afraid of retaliation, I’d test the waters coming in 2 days first then 3 if needed and see how things pan out. It’ll take a few months for companies to adjust.
If I don’t use it I lose it...not sure about a payout. It sounds like you think it’s not worth the risk.

I say take it. If you think they’ll retaliate then this environment is not going to be conducive to being a working mom. What happens when you have to leave work 3 days in a row because your child has a tummy ache? Or random PD days? School schedule isn’t really aligned with the workday. Take the leave and if they give you any attitude, find a new job.

You don’t want to go into the office ever or this is a concern about 2 vs. 3 days? I think you need to look for an explicitly remote job if that’s your desire.
Based on all previous conversations the expectation was two... and financially and because I’m still breastfeeding it matters to me. Additionally, I was told everyone would have to do three , but then I was randomly told it’s just me who is expected to do the three days because of seniority 😕
You haven't given much info on the leave, so no one can give you rock solid advice. 100% paid? Federal leave? State fmla? Do u have a baby? Did you take maternity leave and then find out you could have taken more? How much did you take? Is your team way understaffed? I'm a bit aggressive on parental leave personally since USA is so far behind everywhere else. I say take it and have no regrets. If anyone is upset you're bonding with your baby, that doesn't sound like a work environment I would want to stay in anyway-and you can then use the leave to look for a better job while spending time with baby.
Oh it’s your maternity leave? Totally take it! Thought you meant remaining paid vacation days. They can’t make just you work more days in the office bc you were gone. What type of retaliation are you anticipating?
Take ALL of your leave! At my former employer, i felt like i was rushed to return because my team was short staffed but after I came back, I felt that my male boss held a grudge.
Take it!
