We work to live, we do not live to work. Received an email from a recruiter for many positions in the Bay Area, and couldn’t believe this is a real job description.

Do not sell yourself for a promise of greatness. Your life is more important than your career. While some may be able to take this cost if they are in a position where they do not have a family or significant other, i can promise you the toll of this lifestyle will catch up.

Plus the salary doesn’t even compensate for the hours.

“We work 6 days a week” is not a culture that supports “unlimited PTO”. 😮‍💨

Red flag city. First off it's a startup, all new startups ask for too much with these roles. The role is "dynamic", that's code for you're going to wear a ton of hats and will be over worked. The free food is lunch AND dinner, so it confirms the job will involve long days. The team is "young, smart and doesn't take themselves seriously", so expect to work with ageist immature entitled newbies. Wellness and productivity perks are probably a water cooler, coffee machine, and stale snacks. They want this person to be an EA, office manager, operations manager, and HR manager. That's not realistic.

like

You'll probably be the one who has to coordinate all those free food and dinners. This role sounds overwhelming and no work life balance. Immediate pass.

Nope. ✌️ $275k base + 30% bonus and equity, ,*maybe* I'd take the call.

like

That salary is at least $100K short.

100% agree with you. However, this could be a good opportunity for a young person to take the next step in their career for a short period of time. I certainly wouldn’t be working 6 days per week though, and I WOULD be taking approx 6 weeks vacation per year. That’s what I did when I was on unlimited PTO. I am aware that most Americans feel guilty taking PTO so they don’t take advantage of it, but I have no such qualms.

like

"Unlimited PTO" is never a good thing. But the job description and the hours... noticed that they threw in "paid dinner" as well, not just lunch. And for that comp... hard "no"

I agree with you!!

How tough is it to break into a FAANG PM role at mid-level if you have less prestigious experience? I have 10+ YOE in product, but some was at a tiny meh startup that fizzled out, some was in the digital wing of a large old healthcare org, and though my current role is GPM at a “name brand” tech company, it’s on the smaller side. Went to a good-but-not-Ivy school. What qualifications and experience are FAANG companies looking for when hiring mid-level PMs? Can I break in at mid-level from here?

Hello Fellow EAs-

I am in the
Amazon Interview Process. I have completed my loop interviews and have scheduled 2 Meet & Greets with the team I will be joining. Are the Meet & greets typically casual, or should I treat them as part of the interview process?

If I get to the Meet & Greet stage, does that mean I will be offered the job, and this is more for me to meet the team? Or is the team still deciding if I am a suitable match versus other candidates?

Thanks in advance!

Thought ESS leadership finally embraced the idea of allowing EAs to become fully virtual. Now coming back to the office 2 to 3 days a week. I wonder why they would not allow full remote as KPMG. Most of the people we support are sitting all over the US and we do not interact with them in person. They have the urge of micromanagement and having us at the office while others at the firm can have flexible arrangements and working from home. Plus CBS gets the smallest raises, as second class....
