Yay, no one is looking too closely

like

I do just because I want to, but I don’t think anyone else gives a shit (or should). I have gotten into the habit of wearing more blush than normal during video calls because otherwise I look like a ghost. Pale white skin problems 😂

Right?! I hate that!

I don’t wear make-up even when we are in office so yay. If men aren’t required to wear make-up, I don’t see why a woman should (unless she wants to of course).

Do whatever you feel comfortable with! (But my real answer - as someone who usually wears a half to 3/4 face of makeup to work (full face only for special occasions), I will say that I was feeling confident in my no-makeup quarantine skin, and went no-makeup on a Zoom with my practice group, and I immediately regretted it. Five minutes of makeup would have made me so much more confident!). Work is where you should show your best face!

like

I still present myself over video call as I would in the office. Sure, my attire is slightly more casual now, but hair and makeup I keep the same. Want to maintain a well kempt disposition.

like

I feel more confident when I have a little mascara, hair brushed, and my eyebrows filled in a bit just to look more awake. Other than that, you don’t need to do much else. If people are looking that closely they need to find something else better to occupy their time.

like

Yay. Haven’t worn makeup since we started pandemic WFH. I don’t think anyone cares or can tell but even if they did or could, fuck ‘em.

like

I wore makeup to the office, but I’ve only put on makeup once since quarantine started. I will probably still wear mascara when we go back to the office, but I am going to try very hard not to fall into my old ways....I LOVE not wearing makeup now! My skin is so healthy and it is so nice not to have to do it every day!

like

Use the filter feature on Zoom!

I am the sort of girl who wears make up every day. I decided while WFH to let me skin breath. One piece of advice if you are self-conscious. Turn the resolution down on your camera. I did that at the beginning of lock down as I have bad skin and makes it look less obvious 🤣

like

I vote yay. I’m now 27 and I have never worn makeup at work. In fact, several other paralegals at my old firm stopped when they realized it wasn’t mandatory. If you do wear makeup often, I wonder if your skin would feel like it could breathe better. Some of my friends say that wearing things like foundation actually exacerbate their skin issues.

like

Yayyyyyyy

like

I say do what makes you feel confident and comfortable. I’m all about just filling in my brows and making sure my hair is brushed. Haven’t worn makeup in weeks and my bosses and coworkers haven’t said a word when they’ve seen me (which is frequently).

like

I haven’t worn makeup since March! It didn’t even occur to me.

like

Do whatever you want, queen! I have weekly calls and simply keep my profile pic up. I neither wish to appear on camera nor take the time to put on makeup.

like

Hard NAY. I don’t wear any makeup in the office either. These days I just wear makeup for going out. Since the pandemic started I also stopped coloring my hair to cover up the greys. It doesn’t show on zoom. I’m 35. Will start coloring again soon, but makeup is a nope!

I do have a very careful skincare regime.

Sorry I got confused in the negatives so I think by Nay I meant to say Yay to no makeup.

like

I will generally throw in some mascara for zoom calls, but other than that quarantine time = makeup free!

No makeup. But, as a dosclaimer, I don't wear makeup unless I go to court (i feel more polished).

Big no. Quarantine and WFH is a great time to bring us together with our teams, become more humane and bring down barriers which defined us except of the quality of our work (ie. Clothes, make up etc)! We are setting a new precedence here - make it count!

Yay. But if you feel the need to do any, totally fine to keep it light (mascara and some brow filler is usually my go to light look).

Does anyone know if it hurts to reach out to a congressman in another district in an attempt to expedite pending i140/i1485 case? I have reached out thrice to the congressman in my district via email over the last 6months with no response, just the automated acknowledgment.
I know the zip code restricts you from doing so, but I could use a friend’s zip code whose congressman was more responsive. Just want to make sure doing so does not negatively impact me.

Hi! I posted this in the in house bowl, but figured I would post here, too. I’m LGBTQIA+ & an in house attorney in a red state. I am desperately seeking a relocation after a handful of anti-LGBTQIA+ bills have been introduced, & some even signed into law in my state. Despite my efforts, I cannot seem to get a recruiter to work with me or any companies outside my state to even consider me. I’m applying to jobs for which my experience is a match, & I’m being looked over. Any advice on relocation?

I need advice on handling the attorney I work for.
As some background, my attorney needs near constant reminders on everything, and every pleading I give them to approve & sign, I have to follow up on it 3-4 times before they even look at it. Then I hound them for a signature.

But when these situations happen, sometimes they’ll randomly remember “oh we have a deadline. Why isn’t that done yet” and they’ll get frustrated with me for it not being done, but I had given it to them prior.

So why haven’t women lawyers formed their own network of large law firms that aren’t the hell holes that (apparently) are present-day large firms? We could prioritize all the things traditional firms dgaf about - remote work options, vacation time/PTO, reasonable hours, maternity leave, childcare options, etc.
