Week 3 of a new job, I’m now working with a trainer on live accounts. Any suggestions for dealing with a trainer who dictated what to do but refused to explain why or when? I tried having a one on one discussion regarding learning styles and communication needs and was told “I train my way, you’ll have to adjust.”

Hey all, any tips in getting out of sales? I’ve been doing SMB tech sales for a few years and legitimately have to be an account manager as well post sale for customers to be successful. Seeing a lot of “customer success manager” roles that look appealing but they always have 1000+ applicants

I found out that my two male coworkers at my same level make almost 10k more than I do, I was promoted internally and they were hired on externally. Does this make a difference? Should I bring it up to my manager or do I have no grounds?

I’ve been at my company as a glorified Helpdesk/Tier 1 Tech Support for a little over 1.5yrs now… I’m apparently up for the next position as it’s open. I currently make less than $30k/yr, new role is $56k-$75k… how much should I ask for? I’ve been told by others in the role they make around $65k.

I work in events and at each event my manager hires her friend who works with us for the duration. Everyone on my teams loves him but at the last event he spent the entire event undermining me and any time he disagreed he would go to my manager to get a different answer. She’s now talking about getting him back in a bigger capacity. I found him lazy (he would disappear on his phone) and obviously would constantly undermine me. What should I do? I’m on Chapter 21 of Becoming where Michelle Obama states people pay more attention to her clothes than her actual words. I can relate to this on a smaller scale. My former manager in 2019 would poke fun at my hair color (I’m going grey and love Overtone) rather than ever give me feedback on my job performance. I finally confronted him and told him I’m not sensitive but it was “getting old.” Can anyone else share a similar circumstance?

I was contacted by a recruiter just before I went on maternity leave. We stayed in touch and now, a month into my leave, I am preparing for a first interview at Google for an interaction designer role. First, any tips on how to prepare for this interview? Second, I feel like if I’m doing all this interview/material prep, I should go all in, apply at other big companies and try for multiple offers. Is not having 1:1 meetings with your manager a red flag ?

It's becoming more and more clear to me that my company is discriminating upon women and minorities. I don't have a very strong case for discrimination for my personal situation, but I'm becoming increasingly enraged about the systematic practices that I'm observing.

I've opened up an inquiry with HR on one issue (clear disparity in candidate offers b/t women and other underrepresented candidates vs white/Asian cis men), but I'm wondering if there's more I should do. 

Any words of wisdom?
