Considering a transition to data analytics/data analyst/IT type roles. Anyone make the switch from accounting without extensive prior knowledge in these areas? Currently enrolling in EdX courses to confirm interest and get a baseline level of skill. Also trying to consider whether it’ll mean a significant pay cut or not. Fwiw, 3+ years experience in forensics, CPA, all that jazz. Input/experiences are appreciated!
With something like the trouble in the Gaza Strip, the Atlanta spa shootings, or otherwise, if you have coworkers that are of a descent in which they or their family members may be affected by it, how do you handle it when the news comes up? E.g. if someone else mentions the news and someone is present in the conversation that might be affected. Also - if you know that someone's family is an area that's dealing with a lot of conflict or trouble, do you ask how their family is doing??
I asked 3 of my higher ups to write me letters of recommendation a month ago when I put in my resignation. I went on PTO for a couple weeks & followed up with my manager today. He told me “actually I was told we aren’t allowed to write them for you. Sorry.”
I asked why and he just shrugged and continued the conversation...
Has anyone heard of anything like this? Bosses “not being allowed” to write LORs for exiting employees? I’m leaving on my own terms & good standing.
