Weird but serious question. How do you deal with bathroom breaks and billable hours? I try hard to stay hydrated because it helps me focus and is obviously good for me, but then I feel like I’m having to pee every 30 minutes, which ends up being disruptive to my work. Any insight or tips on how this works would be great. 😅

My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

I need some advice, I’ve been in a newly created role within a pharma agency for about three months now and it is not going too well. There is little to no structure or direction from senior leadership, no access to client data, little to no billable work. Worst of all, no project is related to what I have been hired to do.

There is a partner in our office that routinely discusses associate performance with other associates. For example, she will tell Associate A that Associate B isn’t performing and/or hitting hours, etc. Recently, I learned that she has been discussing “issues” she had with my work product two years ago (I no longer do any work for her).
