Well I'm a first time mom and feel home bound running the baby cycles. My baby is not a good sleeper so I feel like I am on 24/7. When he is a asleep in doing the usual bottles, dinner etc. I feel like I need more confidence to get myself and baby out of the house with everything in tow but I suppose walking through malls could help. Houston heat doesn't make it ideal to walk around outside during the day. I also do the night cycles solo so I'm pretty much too exhausted to do anything but want to get more scheduled about it so I can plan on an hour here and there when my husband gets home.

Look for a local mom support group. I'm also a first time mom and I found one on Facebook for my neighborhood and they're honestly such a great resource to ask questions or vent. They meet up for coffee or other small informal social events with their babies, sometimes they just post when they're going to go for a walk or run an errand and ask if anyone wants to meet at a park or something. I feel like that could give you the confidence to be out in public with the baby. Good luck mama!!

How old is your little one? You deserve some grace for yourself! I'm usually very motivated but had. No interest in being out and about for the first 5 months of my daughters life.

He's 8 weeks. Thanks for sharing that pwc1 - it can be overwhelming and I was starting to think it was just me and was trying to fix that aspect of getting out.

Advice from any moms or child care takers.
My niece is in fourth grade and she opened up to me about having body issues and afraid of bullying at school. She told me that she is friends with a girl that is chubbier and is from a single parent household and that kids in her class make fun of her for it. She thinks that if she is chubby other kids will make fun of her, too. She has a belly (but she’s in 4th grade ffs!!). She told me that she feels really self conscious and wants to have a (cont).

My husband has a tendency of always shutting me down in discussions. I don’t know why, but his ingoing position is that I must be clueless regarding whatever topic we are discussing. It’s very annoying because 1) I find it disrespectful 2) I am smart enough to have the same job as him and 3) it means we can never talk about anything- he always turns it into an argumentative way of disproving whatever I say

I’ve been asked to weigh in on how to improve my firms parental leave policy. It’s currently 8 weeks paid for birth parent with an extra week for each year at the firm (up to 12 weeks total) and 2 weeks paid for non-birth parent. I’m in a major city, firm is a boutique that has been around a very long time. What would you suggest? Any studies or research you’ve seen recently on trends in parental leave policies also helpful. I’d like to have some sort of data to back up what I recommend. TIA!

Hi everyone - I’m relatively new to Dallas and starting my home search. It’s me + wife + baby with hopes of at least 1 more in the future. Can someone give me some ideas as to which neighborhoods are friendly for young parents / working professionals? Any inputs on Richardson, Carrollton, Far North? Areas to avoid? Other areas worth exploring that are not too far north? We’re trying to stay close to the North Dallas tollway / turnpike for work. Thank you!

Less than a year before I can retire and not sure I can make it. The stress at home, work and with the aches and pains of my 54 year old body are taking their toll. I wake up every weekday and dread the coming 14 hour day. I live for the bliss of two days off on the weekend when I can attempt to just ignore everything until Monday morning.

Thanksgiving is upon us. Send help.

My step in laws are TERRIBLE. Not directly to me but family dynamic is stressful. They parent their youngest kid with pills and ignoring him, so that he does inappropriate things around me with zero correction (walking in on me, insulting me). They are all half siblings (4 boys 30-11) so they all don’t care including my partner. FIL also verbally abuses MIL in front of us. Yet they all want to please him constantly. It’s just bad.

Food was good though.

I quit drinking at the first of the year because I was drinking too much as a way to cope with Covid. 99.9% of the time, I’m glad I quit drinking. And then there are those nights when I just want a glass of something to take the edge off, which makes me think alcohol was more of a coping mechanism than I thought and it’s probably a good thing I’m not drinking. I don’t even like wine very much, but I miss that low level buzz that makes everything a little less loud.
