15 YOE at a Fortune 1000 company. $245K base, 30% target bonus (though payout has been quite a bit lower than target in the last 5 years), $100K in equity granted annually which is split 25% RSUs, 25% options and 50% performance RSUs.
Sounds like I need a new job.
$250k base, $350k total comp. I work 40 hours a week and get 5 weeks vacation. 15 YOE, 3rd year on in house (former midsized firm litigator). Hybrid office, I work about 1 day a week in the office, 4 days at home. Hoping to be a GC in two years and for a promotion at current job in 6 months to one year.
Happy to help, A2! I was a litigator and had a hard time moving in house. I have a good triage skill set and am a great problem solver so thought I would do well in house but it was a tough sell without the MBA. That was my main driver but it has been great for my credibility (and skill set and connections).
I’ll go first.

210k base
35k bonus
80k worth of RSUs vesting over 4 years. Refreshers now granted every year but the above was my first refresher grant.
I joined before we went public and have significant amount of equity from that.
20+ YOE, 300k+ base, up to 75% annual bonus (50% is more likely), plus long term incentive pay.
10 YOE at a FTSE 100 company. $180k base. No bonus. 401k match @ 10%. Each Senior Counsel is a GC generalist who does everything or farms it out per a business silo annual budget. Haven’t worked >40 hours in a week in 7-years, although if you’re not super efficient and know how to market wins, you’re not going to last.
That 10% 401k match is GOLD. Previous company was 7.5% match and I thought that was the highest I’d seen.
3 YOE, 170k base, 20% bonus, working hours 10-4 (but usually 9-5), hybrid office
Junior IP counsel for a large FMCG. I came from a boutique IP firm. Honestly it was all fluke so not particularly got any advice. I just came across the job posting online and applied through their website.
This is why I’ll never leave biglaw
FWIW, a few of my friends from transactional backgrounds also landed in house jobs in finance that pay in a similar range, so I think you have other options.
There are so many of these threads in the in-house bowl plus there are like 7 in-house salary guides
A lot of them do use YOE and location have you ever looked at Robert Half?
9 YOE, at a Fortune 200 electric utility, focus on workplace health and safety, base $210k, 25% bonus target with potential multipliers, $25k yearly long term incentive bonus, no equity, 401K match.

Slated for spring promotion that will bring me to:
$250k; 30%/60%; $125k
That will likely be my last promotion and salary will grow 2-3% thereafter. I have no plans on literalist to try to make more or to be a GC somewhere.
