How has distance learning gone for you this year?
For you math and art teachers…
5th graders have a field day with this one!!
Key cross contamination.
C’mon, who did this?
The theme of this school year...
Inside reality but keeping a smile so far!
My personal favorite
Distance Learning with James T. Kirk.
I felt this to my core. The real MVPs.
I miss in person teaching.

I think that what is best about all of these individuals is they taught without ever seeing their students at all and just kept on being successful. How we present ourselves to students f-2-f or online that makes the difference. It’s how we communicate with them. Word choice becomes much more important when in writing, which is the bulk of online communication. I also think that elementary (pre-k through 3) have it the toughest. I honestly don’t know how y’all juggle so many subjects all day with the same kids and those poor babies being expected to do that from home.
Yes with a full production staff behind them. Just imagine what you could do with extreme support
Pro
With commercial breaks. *sigh*
Each had staff, most had writers, and none had to do it 6 times a day.
Nor did they need to actually interact with people while teaching.
I understand the frustration.. I was trying to be positive because it is a hard transition for most of us ❤️
Not only did they have their production staff they didn’t have people who never taught their subjects telling them the best way to do it. They didn’t have to make sure everyone learned the curriculum and could pass a test in it. I also don’t think they had something new added to their plates every time they turned around.
Yes, thanks for the boost. If Bob Ross can do it, so can I.
We have 10 in person students who are with me all day and 10 at home students who my assistant responds to online. They get asynchronous work and stories, songs and other brain breaks to listen to, watch and follow along online. My assistant responds to work they post to our Teams page. I can also put things like chants about days of the week, counting, alphabet and finger plays.
I do with the children that are in person. They also get to participate in music, art, PE and Library, It’s not great, because I have very little contact with the Virtual students and they have dropped off because of it. The ones at school definitely have the advantage. I am alone all day with my 10 and my assistant works from home.
We are now going back to all Virtual after Thanksgiving. It will be a week by week basis, depending on the numbers of cases in our district area.
I feel frustrated for the few I have who are unsuccessful (hybrid model but have taught virtual classes). However, I feel that a huge chunk is understanding why the students are unsuccessful. Will they truly be less free thinking? I think it depends on the skills and work we teach and assign. Education has been reducing the students ability to think freely and critically for decades now. We have been restricted by standardized, high stakes exams for decades. In the end, education to students is what we give them. It’s not the platform but us that matters.
I love this positivity. 💜
That is interesting! Thanks for sharing.
