Went in-house recently and was told by my director today that there’s not much to do this week. Then realized I no longer need to make billables… life is good 😊

Same here…In house for 5 years…non stop flow of deals and work…actually looking to go to a firm for the first time.

It’s the best. You can finally enjoy the slow periods!

I have never had a week like that in house yet but I do have that the entire company is taking off for a week in August. You don't get that in a law firm

It can be a bit quieter in the summer for us, especially august. We’re a European company and everybody in Europe takes two week holidays over the summer. The week before Xmas can also be pretty dead so I try to take it off to get a two week. Real as we close between Xmas and New Years

Getting ready for a new life adventure in some other city or country. Have a great house in an extremely desirable city. We should probably rent it, gain a little monthly cash, and let the asset grow even more. But part of me says just sell it while it’s high now, and go forth and not have to worry about renters and things breaking etc. Just move on and buy something when we settle. house is paid for. Thoughts?

How does one find direction in what they want to do in life? I don’t find my job as a tax manager fulfilling and my busy time conflicts with some of my favorite hobbies, skiing and snowmobiling. I find it hard to determine my next step because I’m all about relationships, love my clients and am a sales/big picture thinker, so naturally industry doesn’t interest me. I’ve been super lost for a few years and think I need to act on my unhappiness and get out while I’m young. Any advice?

Has anyone recently made the switch to in house and now feel unorganized and less productive than when billing hours? For what it is worth, I’ve received good reviews and my superiors seems to be pleased with my work. I’m currently at a medium sized tech startup. I was interviewing for a role that would be a bump in pay and title at a multinational public F50 company. After a week of interviews with the team (softball-esq), I was informed that if I wanted to join, they would bring me on at a lower title. I’m not sure about comp yet. But if comp is still an increase + experience at a public..
