You don't need to run. Starting verbally before getting everything written down just gives you room for negotiation.

Sounds like the recruiter simply confirmed what you were told on Friday - that you can expect an offer incoming. First one is usually verbal, and provides a chance to negotiate if necessary before finalizing/formalizing a written offer.
