Went on vacation and absolutely wrecked my body for 5 days (not dieting and exercising). Looking at mirror and scale in disgust. If I get back to my normal diet.. will I at least get back to previous state in a decent time frame? Hoping it’s just heavy bloat / water weight from alcohol

Give it a week or two you will be close to back to normal.

I’d bet the majority is water weight you’re holding onto. Unless you were eating/drinking like 5000+ calories per day over maintenance, I doubt you’d actually put on legitimate fat that fast.

Drop your sodium intake, eat clean and drink a ton of water. You’ll likely drop most of that off.

I gained 10 in a week once. Never quite got back to that weight. 😕

Unless you went full Hunter Biden you should be fine. Take the week off from drinking and cut out salt/carbs for a few days. Go workout and your body will recover

Just eat a bit less for a few days and skip breads/pastas. Replace with veggies and protein and the weight will drop quickly back to normal. Resume regular diet when at the weight you want

Forgive yourself. Get back to it and you’ll recover in no time. 😄

what is a decent time frame for you? also, how do you feel about getting back to your previous state? also, what will you do next time you go on vacation, will you consider a better plan to stay fit or will you wreck your body again? just questions to think about... the point is to get clear on what you want to do, how badly you want it to stay motivated and to have a plan for it. Also get some support, someone who cares that will help you get back there to where you want to be. Best to you!

at 6th week and am 31 years old. I live in Canada. When I was asking about NIPT test, My doctor said I do not really have to get it done because of my age. But she said, if I want to get it done I can prefer to do.
Am not very clear if everyone should prefer to get NIPT done. My mom’s eldest brother’s son has some issues like low IQ and learning capacity. Should I opt for NIPT? Any possibility to get false positive on NIPT and end up doing further tests like aminocentesis?

Update: a couple weeks ago I posted about disclosing my diagnosis to HR at my firm. We had a meeting ab 2 weeks ago and have been continuing the convo since. The firm is giving me a lot of the accommodations that I asked for, incl. daily reminders for time entry, written/verbal instructions, and weekly meetings with a mentor to review what I’m working on and help me plan/stay on track. struggling in my relationship. Feeling that my brain has been on “auto pilot” mode for years. I am Principal in one of the top consulting firms, promoted on fast track basis, so have not been “lazy” and doing good at work. But everything feels the same, nothing gets me intellectually stimulated anymore, and now I feel like if the trend continues, I might lose my ability to adapt and learn new things altogether. Had to go in the office yesterday for an in-person meeting and the wheels fell off. I ate a donut for breakfast and ate the giant cookie served with lunch. I ate a very healthy dinner but felt sluggish and bloated all day. Stepped on the scale this morning and I gained 2 lbs. I think it’s mostly water weight as I still feel bloated. For the last 4 months, I’ve been pseudo-reverse dieting (RD) to increase metabolism and stop feeling like I was starving. I say pseudo as I didn’t gradually increase calories.
