Went solo a year ago after a few years being miserable as an associate. I have done well enough to keep going but I have been increasingly lonely and desiring a team environment. I’ve been applying to roles over the last couple months, however, for the jobs I find that fit my experience and years, I cannot seem to get even a bite. I have a very polished resume and tailor cover letters. Is coming from solo practice that much of a turnoff for a firm?

It seems your in family law. I’ve seen a lot of sole practitioners in that space teaming up with others to form an association. (Full disclosure—sample size of one who is a friend from law school.) But she seems to be doing well, sharing office space and working with clients, etc. So perhaps you’re not so much looking for a firm, but more of an association of lawyers in your space with whom you can collaborate.

Grass is always greener. I am a solo and it’s extremely lonely sometimes. But you might not like your new job and you might never make partner. We’re as you built something already. I make it habit to go lunch with other solo attorneys. Their having the same experiences as you. Also, I rent from another solo. We go to lunch multiple times a week sometimes.

I got laid off from my job as an account manager at a SAAS company. I’ve been applying non stop for similar jobs in saas for the past 2 months and I’m not having a lot of success with interviews. Either not getting them or not getting an offer because they go with a candidate with more experience (I have 1 year experience). Any advice for companies to apply to or with getting an offer despite not having as many years experience as others?

Looking for recommendations on financial modeling courses (paid) that I can take for 3 statements/operating model, valuations, M&A, & LBO. Have been getting interviews with banks (3 in 2 months) but I come up short with the modeling experience (and weak on the technicals too). I’m thinking doing a modeling course will help with the no modeling experience + update my technicals? Thanks.

Interviewing for a product designer IC job at Meta, I was told by the recruiters that final panel would be 2 ICs and 1 manager. My schedule has 3 managers, no ICs and no other functions. I asked - told it was just due to scheduling constraints. I think managers just naturally have more experience and more stringent standards (generally). Is this worth asking to set up the more standard panel for me even if it takes longer to schedule? Or is this a non-issue? Just want an equitable experience
