[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture
I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

My daughter (now 13) was misdiagnosed with ADHD when she was 7. The stimulant meds made her literally crazy (daily nuclear meltdowns and depression). Got her off the stimulant meds after 2 plus years of hell. Now she’s on an SSRI for anxiety and doing much better. Morale of the story - watch the stimulant meds since they can make anxiety worse if that’s what it actually is.
Thanks, I am going to try and be conscious of my symptoms and follow up with my doc in 2 weeks.
Just as a little tip, make sure to monitor for the next few months if you continue the medication. Sometimes medications especially for mental health take a few months to kick in to wear you fully see the side effects! Best of luck!
I hope they did some actual assessment and didn’t just prescribe you ADHD meds too quickly - and at least started you on a very low dose with a clear, consistent follow up plan? The way you phrased this feels like the doc was a little haphazard, but hopefully not rash.
They asked me about how I felt etc and I just described it and honestly I never even thought I would have adhd but looking at the symptoms it makes a LOT of sense. He gave me a small amount to test out and I am coming back in two weeks + filling out a few adhd tests for him to review.
I am going to see another doctor on Friday just to see what she has to say.
Yes. I was surprised too, but that’s what my dr told me, which makes sense when you think about it.
I originally thought it was anxiety leading to lack of focus but the doc thinks it’s the other way. I guess we will find out soon. It is definitely helpful to hear other people’s experience because quite frankly I’m scared of taking pills. It feels kind of weird knowing I could potentially need this to feel “normal”
