We’re going back to the office in July and all I have are thot clothes. What are some essential pieces I can buy? What does your work wardrobe look like?

After college was the worst b/c I wasn't getting paid enough to replace all my crop tops and shorts with real clothes

I’m laughing but this is legit.

Capsule wardrobe. 6 plain pants, 6 varied tops, 3 - 6 others (scarf, skirt, jumper, blazer etc). You’re set. Doesn’t need to be pricey. Find you a gap, banana republic, old navy, even target has nice work shit. Rotate those items in combo. It’s all about styling. I wear all black gray and hunter green in rotation and people legit think I spent that coin and have a stylist. Chile 🤣

July?? That seems aggressive. More aggressive than your thotdrobe. Maybe with climate change July will be hot enough that you won't need to get anything.

Not Thotdrobe. 🤣🤣🤣 Imma go ahead and let you know I’m stealing this.

i think it’s good to have at least 1 classic white button down for when you need to dress more formally but it can also be dressed down and worn casually with some jeans etc the good thing is this industry isn’t very business formal in my experience so you can still bring a lot of your personal style to it - have fun w it!

helpful

yeah def! and it can also help hide a lot.. slightly oversized white button up with a crop top and tight skirt is a very different outfit from a crop top and tight skirt LOL

Always have a couple of good blazers, they can quickly dress up jeans and t-shirt. If you go button down route, make sure to have them tailored to fit if you have ample assets up top. It’s advertising so you can always show your personality with a quirky graphic tee or fun shoes.

I mean, I’ve worn crop tops with high-waisted pants a few times. Couldn’t see a thing. You’re a creative. We get away with a lot. It’s all seen as an expression of our “quirky” personality. So, leggings? Sure. Jeans? Of course. Tank tops? That works, too. Hoodies? Definitely. As long as whatever you wear isn’t revealing, you’ll be fine.

helpful

This slim thick in leggings is definitely revealing. Thank you! This makes me feel more comfortable about using some stuff I already have.

When I was working in the office, I literally wore t-shirt and jeans. 😂 Our agency was hella relaxed, but if yours is more dressy casual, then I’d say a few button downs (I’ve been seeing some really cute short sleeve ones as of late), a couple casual dresses, cardigans, and a pair of black skinny jeans to throw in the collection.

You’re a creative, we wear what makes the ideas flow (T-shirt and jeans)

Need some advice! I’ve been in a serious relationship for a year. I grew up in a traditional south Asian family where no one discussed relationships. My older sister never introduced any of her boyfriends when she dated them either. But when my parent got divorced, my mom became way more open minded about things. So I want to tell her about my boyfriend. I’m still kind of nervous though. Anyone gone through something similar/any tips to navigate the conversation? Going to see her later today.
