It is not best practices, parents are really supposed to have time to think about it before the IEP, but if it is a re0eval, and nothing is changing too much, it can happen-
We are allowed to send our documents out 10 days advance schedule meeting
To clarify, I always ask the parents if they would like to have a consolidated meeting or meet 2 or 3 separate times.

The Met and Iep are always done the same day, whether it’s an initial or re-eval.
Gee, I know IEPs are a lot of work. I wish I could say peak season. Mine is all year long. They never end! Had 14 between Sept and Nov. And now it starts again, 8 more and not done yet. 6-7 more by years end with some being re-done from the fall:(
Never ending

I agree that holding the mtgs on the same day is not best practice.
This may depend on your state…
I’d hold it together. The data from the 3-year re-eval is an opportunity to see two things… is the student still disabled per IdEA and is the IEP on the proper trajectory? By reflecting on the holistic data, the next years’ IEP and services should be calculated. The 3-year re-eval should be connected to moving forward. If the student is dismissed bc they have met their goals and their disability no longer adversely affects educational performance (per the definition of Specially Designed Instruction) then you don’t need to create a new IEP.
I’m confused. I’ve been teaching sped for thirty years and I don’t know what you’re talking about. We have annuals, 30 days, amendments throughout the year, all year and our three year review done every three years which includes digitally signed parent consent for assessments and then we have the meeting within thirty days of the signing. It’s rarely more than one meeting unless there are issues or time constraints. Usually a two hour plus meeting. We try to coordinate annual and TRI but not always possible. After the meeting, I send out for digital signatures and email all paperwork to parents.
Yes, no peak season. All year, even with 8 students, I have several every month.
I am on my forth IEP for one student who has only been in my class two months. None of those were annuals or TRIs.
And yes, all providers communicate and get parent input prior to meeting.
What IEP computer systems are being used out there?
Even in Bay Area, we have several systems, which is a pain. We’re using SIRAS and I like it.
