We’re planning a trip for next summer with a will be 1.5/2 year old kid. Thinking about a week long trip. Thoughts on trips like Iceland where there is more outdoorsy things to do? Or Portugal to hang by the beach? Anyone done this and what do you suggest? We’re open to anything with no real budget.

We traveled all the time with our kids when they were young - honestly, we just kind of went where we wanted to go but built in time for naps during the day as necessary. Any place with parks or beach worked out well - London (though the stroller was a bit tricky in some Tube entrances), Italy, the south of France, Amsterdam and the Netherlands more broadly. As long as the kids got some to run around and burn off some steam, we ended up having a great time.

Iceland with a toddler would scare me. There are hidden dangers, like rip tides or geothermal land mines if you go off the trail. We considered it but decided against it because our 2 year old can’t follow rules that well.

Has someone ever questioned your decision to join the military? I always argue about it with my father. He believes you must be a little crazy to join the forces and withstand the things you see while deployed. I always tell him he must be crazy too for being a dentist. So I just found out I’m pregnant and yesterday was my last day at my old agency. I’m starting at a new agency in a week. Talk about timing! At this point we’re not planning on telling anyone until 13 week mark. Not sure what I should tell my new job. Now I’m concerned I may not be eligible for maternity benefits since it won’t be a year when this baby comes. My head is reeling.

Pregnant with my first baby and I’m having the WORST sciatic nerve pain. I had a back injury with nerve damage when I was in my early 20s and at 18 weeks pregnant, it’s almost unbearable. Has anyone broached the topic of finances/ estate planning with their parents? I’m sole heir as my parents only child and I know that my dad will probably develop Alzheimer’s in the next 7-10 years (he already has pre-dementia symptoms now but is still working). While I’m aware of some of my families investments the full details of his finances are still a bit murky to me ( I think he feels that I don’t deserve to know since I’m a girl). How do I prepare for the inevitable?

Anyone else stuck in a job because they don't want to lose maternity benefits?

I'm actively looking to have children. Medical advice tells me not to put it off at all, it's now or potentially never.

I have been approached about new jobs, have found jobs that are perfect but they don't offer anything above the statutory mat payments unless you have been there for a year or two at least. As the main breadwinner stat payments would be devastating for us.

Anyone else stuck?
