We're returning to the classroom full time after Spring Break (finally!!!). I am going to be co-teaching for the first time and I'm nervous because I'm new to the school and don't know this teacher well. Any tips on how to get to know her and plan together?

1. The nerves and anxiety are a two-way street....before this you were two ships on the same big sea and now you have to sail side by side in the same direction for the benefit of students.... 2. As stated previously, eat together, find what you have in common as far as hobbies, goals, hopes and aspirations.....they don't have to be the same; just familiar to each other and respected!!! 3. Offer, and reciprocate, mutual.dignity and respect for each other professionally, personally and in all manners of life......it is way too simple and detrimental to focus on what we don't have in common. The absolute best difference makers in the classroom are united and focused on the mission-our amazing scholars needing us to be there for them!!!! 4. Positive Presupposition-go in there confidently with no negative baggage placed on your working together.....don't let anybody else cloud your judgement about your new partner in difference-making for your scholars!!!! 5. Embrace it all and love your calling!!!!!

I co taught for years at middle schools and I enjoyed it. Basically, I would review the homework and teach the lesson starter like a skills lesson and the regular teacher would provide support and she taught new material and I provided support.

We as teachers are not supposed to tell our students what to think, we are supposed to teach our students how to think. To do this, we need to try our best to keep our political opinions and our personal thoughts on issues out of the classroom.

Thinking back to when I was in school. What do teachers have to do now that they didn't 20-30 years ago? What do they need to provide now that they did not have to provide back then? I don't recall buying anything than pencils/paper/folders. We covered our used books with newspaper or paper bags Classrooms were simple, not every inch of wall space was covered in charts, etc. The districts/teachers supplied nothing extra. What changed that teachers have to spend their own $ now?

I started the school year with a class of 12 self-contained students (FR and SF mixed class) math class. Slowly, but surely, my roster bubbled to 17. Since we are all virtual instruction, I said to myself, it's OK. Now, we learned we are going back to the classroom in March, and my room is very small, set for 12 students max? In addition, I only have one teacher's aid, who just told me that she is dyslexic and can't help me too much. I am getting nervous as the days go by! Any suggestions?

I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage. I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest. Anything wrong with this thinking or anything else I should consider?
