West Monroe M&A: what’s your travel look like? Looking at some positions online.

Overall, pretty manageable compared to other firms in similar spaces. I’ve found it to be flexible and easy to manage, and leadership works with you to make it work for you where possible.

Doing deals...typical would be to fly into a city one night, do all necessary diligence meetings/site visit the next day, stay another night, and head home the next morning. There are of course deals with more than one day on site, but it’s not the average. We tend to schedule follow up calls, rather than forcing multi day meetings. The average person might do a deal a week, or perhaps every other week, so it comes out to averaging probably 2 nights a week for three weeks out of the month. There are exceptions of course, just giving you the average.

If you’re on post close work (carve out of integrations)...travel is a bit heavier. More frequently you’ll do the Mon-Thurs travel schedule. Not necessarily every single week, that’s where the flexibility component comes in. Can take weeks off of travel where possible to accommodate life things (e.g., I took a week off of traveling for a project because I had a doctor appointment).

Most people do a mix of post close and diligence, so you get a mix travel wise. Like I said, it’s overall fairly manageable in my experience so far.

On the day you fly back home, does the team typically meet back up at the office or work from home?

I pretty much always go back home, though there are some that prefer to go into the office. I’m big on booking the 10AM flight so I don’t get back too early. Generally, work that needs to get done that day (initial findings for a call with PE firm typically) can be done from home.

Wow, WLB at West Monroe sounds better and better every time someone talks about it!

Yeah, WLB is much better at WMP than at the other firms I’ve worked for. Lot of flexibility.

One other question WM1 - what’s the typical on-site dress code?

What I should have asked is what’s your typical clients dress code?

Typical would be slacks and a blazer when at a client site. Some people go no jacket, but I’d say most wear one. In the office, business casual.

That’s also more so for deals/diligence. Post close, you’ll see more business casual, bc we’re matching to the portco dress code, not the PE firm

Starting as an SM in S&A on the strategy side in the next few weeks. What does travel budget generally look like? I understand first class flights are a no go domestic which sucks, but hoping hotel and food budget makes up for it. Also, does Deloitte pay for platinum Amex or is that out of pocket?

Any United health group remote employees here? I recently accepted an accounting job and some of the onboard makes it seem like I’m only allowed to work from my home office. I usually spend a few weeks a year out of town visiting family and work during this time so I don’t have to use PTO but I’m nervous I won’t be allowed to do that anymore

42 minute flight.

Recently attended an interview from one of the top IT firms . I'd never seen any such worst process in any of my life .
Since I'd attended an interview long back i was surprised to receive this call and HR informed me that I'll be having a HR round and the day comes i joined the call ( literally they didn't even ask a single HR question and it was completely about TR) when I reached out to HR . I was told this was a TR + MR
Whose mistake is this ? wasn't their job to inform us properly about?

Hi, I’ve been contacted by McKinsey for a position in their London office. I’m a mum of two very young children (<2) and keen to learn if you can make it work, if travel requirements are still for 4 days on site etc. I’m sure that varies across the company - but any intel from fellow professionals would be greatly appreciated.
