What advice can people offer for someone that will be a new manager in the next couple of months? I know it’ll be a challenging time but, as someone that wants to stick in PA, what’s worked for you or what have your managers done that you like?
Trying to keep this constructive but understand that complaints can have some value.

Her current package is 2.5lpa from a small company (3yrs exp java spring boot) . She got offer from Accenture of 6lpa (fixed) . After this she had interview with cognizant and asked for package of 7 lpa. When she recieved the offer from cognizant it was of 10lpa fixed. Most interesting part after 2 weeks she got revised offer letter from cogni without any discussion of 16lpa with 1L joining bonus.

How can we analyse and suggest her regarding offer.

Recently I had two rounds of interview with KPMG for a content lead role.

The HR, on call, confirmed that I'd cleared the second round and would schedule an on-shore round when the team was available.

Couple of days later, the HR informs me that the position in on hold and they'll call me if something else comes up.

This felt so wrong. Can't figure out if they hired someone prior and were just messing with me? Can I do something here?

As a generalist with ~3 YOE with non-technical background (Liberal Arts lol), should I get some sort of hard skill before I try to get out of consulting? Honestly think all I’ve learnt are skills to make presentations efficiently and other BS soft skills. I moved for work and my best friends are out of the state. I have found individual friends here, but no reoccurring hang out group. With seasonal affective disorder and anxiety, I find myself not wanting to leave the house and working late. A lot of the activities I like to do are outdoor based and cost $$$ to join indoor version (yoga in the park vs joining a studio). Trying to save money and not lose my motivation—it’s a rough start to the winter. (Yes I have a therapist 💭 & psychologist 💊)

Soo what if I audited the company my brother works for, but didn't realize he worked there until after the audit was already over. For context, for the life of me I could never remember the name of the place he worked, and then my mom said it today and well.... it all clicked.

Can anyone provide some insight on what exit opportunities there are from audit? Is it better to wait until you are a certain rank to leave?

I know my client needs an Accounting Manager. I know this because they’re startup med device company that has their books in complete shambles. The current accounting team isn’t very strong. How do I let the client know that I would be interested in joining them? They’re not actively recruiting for any position but I know they’d benefit from it. Serious responses only :)

Anyone NOT hate audit?? I seem to exclusively see people complaining that its the worst job ever, but I think its pretty good. Varied work, varied people/locations, and after the first like 5 months there's minimal boring ticking and bashing.

I saw Knives Out this weekend and it was very good, highly recommended for forensic accountants—I had my auditor hat on the whole time and enjoyed the twist in the plot at the end.

I have a colleague who is unvaccinated and tested positive for COVID (he text me to let me know). He lied to the firm about his vaccination status since late last year and he went to the office on Tuesday before he found out on Wednesday that he was tested positive. We were all in the conference room together so, I’m exposed to it as well. He refused to notify the firm about his COVID status and putting all those whom he had come in contact at risk. What should I do?
