Are you saying that your agency has already agreed to move you from production to creative? And how can you make the transition smoother?
Id say work your ass off. More than Yiu think you need to. My own opinion would be that you got the job not cuz you're good, but cuz you're friends with ecds, or whoever. Prove me wrong at every opportunity.
@OP if you work in a top ad agency the creative department will require that you know how to do the job you are applying for, therefore "quick" is not what you should be asking for but instead, should be focusing on how to get "good." Respect the craft. Your competition is immense. Go to Portfolio school at night to learn if possible.
Honestly do not recommend that. There are no jobs. Stay in ops and take fiction and TV writing classes on the side.
I don’t want to be a writer, and I don’t enjoy doing operations lol.
Then go to a portfolio development school for Art Direction or Graphic Design. Miami Ad School. Creative Circus. The Portfolio School. There's one in CA, too. Be aware that you are entering the dead side (very few jobs) of the industry. Graphic Design might have the most Jobs right now. For that try The Portfolio Center and maybe The Creative Circus, too. You need a Portfolio to get hired and that's how you get one. You will also make good connections w your peer group at these schools which will help you get gigs. Good luck.
depends where you live and what kind of creative work you are looking to do
I current already work in one of the top AD agencies so my translation would be inside my agency. My question is while working as one role what are tips for making my transition smoother.
I think you’re misinterpreting the question but okay.
