What advice would you give a early-career new hire trying to navigate inside the inside of a company (onboarding, networking, etc.) in a virtual/WFH environment?

Set achievable goals. Learn soft skills and adapt them to your environment. Don’t be a robot. Try to get to know people on quick zoom chats. Ask for feedback, be proactive and dependable. Learn the industry! It’s a long road, I can’t imagine starting my career virtually. But this is temporary - be genuine!

Reach out to folks who started just a year ahead of you. Much less intimidating and they can connect you to more senior people who’ve shown an interest in meeting staff. Also don’t stress too much, it’s a confusing time for everyone and expectations are relatively low for new hires

If there is a case that we have to quarantine again. Do you all think it is possible for store associates to work remotely? If so, what are some ways this could work? I fear another pandemic or outbreak and so many people being out of work again. I can't even fathom those that had jobs in retail that had little to no choice to not be remote.

Does anyone feel they’re adding any sort of value while going to the office? I personally don’t. In my team there’s legit zero level interaction with each other, no informative talks, no growths conversation and few are so absurd that each day they just find ways to impress their snrs. man, come on😅

Leadership asks us to come 2-3 days in a week and if I have to work in the same way which I used to do from home then why don’t we keep doing WFH as long as your job is not suffering.

Tax question. I am a fully remote employee that lives in a different state across the country from my company. Do taxes automatically get set up correctly? Or do I need to worry about double paying and need to ensure it's set up correctly myself? Thanks for the help.

Have virtual interviews tomorrow and Friday (both with same company) - I know 150% if I got an offer, I would not accept. Had a ton of coaching meetings this week regarding a different offer I’ve been considering and I don’t want to leave my current place of work. Cancel tomorrow and Friday interviews or no cancel and potentially get an offer and decline? (I am fairly busy so biggest opportunity cost is my time and having to wfh to do video interviews during the workday)
