I want to be able to retire at 55. If I want to continue to work - fine. But I at least want the option.

Now would be great but 55 would be ideal...

However old i was yesterday. But really, by the time 60 hits I'm gone. How hard i work now will determine how awesome or shitty 60+ is

No number. They say Gen Z will dislike how long Millennials will live/work. Even more than Millennials thought that about baby boomers! Source is "White House - 10 Facts About Millennials"

I should have added that as life expectancy goes up, does that factor into your desired retirement age? If you retire at 55, what will you do until you're 95 (as an example)

55

Most people who are thinking about retirement at around 25 aren't the ones who will be retiring at 55

I'm 26. So I'm passed that 😭😂

From my high school/college job at a county I have a 457(b) that has $5,215 in it with an ARR of 2.18%. It’s not much, but I am trying to figure out what the best thing to do with it is: leave if there until retirement, cash it out w/ no penalty but income tax, or roll it over into I assume an IRA. Any advice would be appreciated! (My current job has a pension and I pay extra into a different 457)

I’ve worked at the same big 3 boutique since I was a clerk. I’m a NEP now. I work in a mid to small market town. One of the partners in one of our larger offices wants me to move to their market. I have a great relationship with this partner and they are telling me they are planning to retire in 5 years. They have a sizable book of business. I have two small kids, my wife is an attorney who practices in state court. I’ll never be more than a well-regarded service partner if I stay. Would you go?

How many of you are the only woman at your firm/practice group? I’m at a large firm, but part of a smaller practice group (<10 associates). We have female partners, but I’m the only female associate in our group. I’ve become friends with one of the other associates. Someone recently joked that I’m his “work wife.” This really bothered me. I don’t think of our relationship as romantic at all. This is mostly just a rant, but can we please retire this term?

How much money do you have left over after you pay all of your expenses and tax? After taxes and rent, healthcare, 401k, and food, I have about 12-14k left over at the end of the year. Is this low? Should I be saving more?

Responsible me is trying to look out for future me by maxing out my 401K and other retirement accounts. Lately, I've been having doubts about this approach. I don't have kids and never will. I am not interested in living too far past 70. Probably have enough in my retirement accounts now/soon to make it comfortably to 70. With 30+ years ahead of me till 65, do I cut back on maxing out? Sorry for the post holiday cheer....

Today I accomplished my goal of $10,000 straight in my high yield savings account and I am so proud of myself😭 I have my 401k but had to pay out of pocket for a few things in the past year so savings depleted, but now I have $10,000 that’s all mine that I can access anytime if I need it. Next up is $20k, then $30k, and so on!

I’m 36 with no debt. I have ~100k in my 401k and ~600k sitting in a HY savings account. I’m very good at saving but I know NOTHING about investing. What would you recommend me to do with my savings?

Hi everyone, I want to do a sense check on my paycheck and taxes. I am a staff 2 in tech consulting at EY in Chicago with 1.5 YOE. Current base salary is $91.2k and with RACs etc I am right around $95k. I contribute $250/month to my 401k which EY matches. My total comp according to the Better Me dashboard is ~$105k However, my take home each month after taxes is ~$2.4k. The ADP app tells me that 32.5% goes to taxes and my gross pay is 67.5%. This just doesn’t seem right…anyone help explain?

70k base salary, have a 20k emergency fund living in NYC and I’m contributing 20% to Roth and 401k (50/50), basically living paycheck to paycheck after that. What are your thoughts/advice? Am I contributing too much?

Should I buy nyc real estate? I’m 24, have no debt, and currently TC is 150k. Currently, I have 110k in savings + 401k and just started to get into investing. By June 2021, I’ll have at least 150k from savings, 401k, etc. I just got started investing this month in the stock market but now I’m thinking about real estate. There are condos in JC and brooklyn for 400k which doesn’t seem too bad but dont know if I’m being way unrealistic. I’d appreciate any advice!
