Working.

When you give an intern/associate a layup task and they think they slam dunked it but realistically they scored in the wrong hoop.

Also... getting in trouble for not billing enough hours while simultaneously getting in trouble for billing too many hours and breaking a code. Wtf guys.

When people ping you “hey” and pretend they care about your day for 3-4 messages before finally getting to the punchline of what they want you to do

likefunny

Yesssss like get to the point already you’re giving me anxiety 😭

like

The hypocrisy of everything. Charge your all your time but don’t charge your time, go home and rest if you’re sick but we still need you to work, let someone know if you have too much work but who’s gonna do it if you can’t. There are so many more examples but all of it is just ridiculous.

likefunny

When the manager says “Don’t hesitate to ask questions” yet when I ask a question the answer is “you should already know this” or “we discussed this in our meeting last week” or “ask the senior on the project before you ask me” or “I don’t have time to answer this right now I have a call in 5 minutes"

likefunny

Micromanaging..... especially by people who have no freakin clue what they are doing because their only talent is sending follow-up emails.....

likefunnyuplifting

Managers who don’t know what they’re talking about, talk in circles, and when the time comes, doesn’t back up a point that they brought up when being presented to the client.

Being “shown appreciation” at work by having to do more work in the form of forced activities. Just give me a few days off and a bonus and leave me be.

likefunnyuplifting

100% agreed. All those appreciation events like happy hours or team building stuff always seem to start at 5:30 or later. Nothing during normal working hours

When associates get annoyed because I don’t know the exact answer to their specific question instantly. I said I’ll look into it, don’t sigh at me

Not having a dog.

When others take credit for my work, getting talked down to, being micromanaged when I’m not the issue, not being trusted even though I’ve proved myself time and time again, people who ONLY gossip about others....the list could go further

I’m working on three clients (Staff II) and I literally have all three Seniors on my back because each one of their jobs is the most important and they all need to be done ASAP and “forget the other Seniors client”......what am I to do for fucks sake 😫

likefunny

This is a daily struggle for our team, but it’s all on one client. Everything is priority, just make sure to do mine first

No set time to be on FB

Never getting a thank you for anything, people not replying to emails

Not responding to emails is disrespectful. Happens all the time.

Coworkers who do not stop talking. I hate open office layout.

Same 😭

When the federal team waits until March 14th to give us their numbers, and then we have 12 hours to file 50 states, and DC. Wtf guys.

Exactly SM2! Just one of those can throw the whole engagement off, on a big client we’re likely to run into several.

Not being appreciated for my work, office politics that favors personalities that can talk a lot but not produce results, tracking long PBC Lists, getting crappy work from offshore teams after sending them detailed emails with instructions, and after doing all this, making less than the FA accountant at the clients place.

Managers and senior managers who can only be friendly and respectful to people "above" them but ignore and abuse the people "below". They forget that relationships go both directions and they were once staff/senior too. If they become partner, they have got no fans since they kicked everyone on their way to get there.

like

EY8 - yes. I do not agree at all with people taking credit for other people’s work and not cc’ing you is equally bad. If you are cc’d we figure you were involved

Non-client facing people who complain they have difficult jobs but leave at 5pm.

like

Careful.. those non-client facing people are the same ones that can make you look good or bad with both partners and clients. And not all non-client facing staff goes home at 5. Some of those non-client facing staff are also dealing with more than just a few people, they can be dealing with many partners, senior managers, managers, seniors, staff, etc. As well as administrative work. Some of then have earned the right to bitch.

Being there

What's a good salary for 4.5 years of experience as a Big Data Engineer (Azure/PySpark/Databricks) in the Amsterdam/Utrecht area?

In talks with recruiters and I feel like I'm being low balled.

Reasonable base compensation expectations for regional general counsel position (direct report to CLO)? From what I can tell, company revenue is $500M - $1B (privately held company, so tough to know); construction industry (infrastructure / energy / mining); midwest headquarters. I’d be at the lower end of the experience requirements. Looked at MLA report, but looking for additional thoughts/opinions. Thanks!

We both will have the same package, same company, same background(most probably) and same poor work-life balance. They think that this marriage will last longer and has higher chances of being successful. So, is there a Jeevansaath/Shaadi dot com for just ZSers? Think about it? It is a good idea plus no HR problem also 😛

Mid-level expecting 1st kids (twins) in the next six months. Firm offers approx 3 months of leave in total, which can be taken all at once or split into 3x 1-month, or 1x 2-month & 1x 1-month chunks.

I don't think I want to take it all at once at birth, but I'm a bit worried about having to wind down & back up 3x if I split it into 3 periods throughout the year (idea being that we could do some traveling/visiting fam & be around at dif times of their growth if split 3x).
