What are big 4 second year salaries? I'm at EY and make $56.5K as a second year

Which of the big 4 has the best work life balance. I know that's a foreign concept for us M&A folks, but still curious.

I want to create a detailed 5 year plan for getting to partner at a big 4. I’m currently a director at a big 4. I know the obvious thing to do is sell and build a strong team to support you, but I feel these goals are too vague and I would like for the plan to be more detailed on describing the “how” as well as getting through any road blocks like high employee turnover and loosing clients. Any advice on how to write a detailed goal setting plan to make it to partnership?

Thinking of leaving the Big 4 for a PE fund - they’re offering a huge pay increase but I’m worried about the culture. I worked at a hedge fund and hated it, it was such a stressful environment and people were genuinely not kind. Anyone work at a PE firm now? I’m also trying to move out of an EA role so I want to make sure anywhere I go has that opportunity…open to your insights!

My maternity leave will be over in a couple months, and I’m debating staying at home full time. I’m not sure if I should go back and give myself a few weeks or a month and see how it goes, because I might change my mind. Or do I burn less bridges by not returning at all? And if so, when do I tell them? Not sure how to navigate this. (I’m in Big 4 accounting.)

Anyone left for smaller tech consulting shops from B4/ACN? It seems like they have less/no name recognition, smaller clients, fewer project types, shallow IT capabilities (and therefore requires you to be doing everything from client facing to getting hands on and technical with bad hours), and pay isn't that good. How are they attracting and hiring people with all-in-one skillsets...? Seems like high risk, low reward.
