What are you talking about??? Deloitte is WAAAYYYY better, it is the best consulting company. People at MBB often call themselves DMBB, so that they can align themselves with Deloitte. In short, Deloitte is the best company in the world. No, I mean the best company in the entire universe!!!

BDE 💯

This is a fine question to ask, just keep in mind they're all too big and prone to practice/team level microcultures for you to get a reliable answer. At best you'll get stereotypes fueled by anecdotes

I believe the truth is likely somewhere in the direction of "they're all more similar than different" with the usual YMMV caveat because any one individual's experience can vary wildly from the baseline depending on who they end up working with

This really depends on your practice and location more than the company. However, something to remember is that KPMG is the worst one and it is alright to bully them. Encouraged, even

In Toronto KPMG is opposite to Deloitte.. we can see their PPT from our floor.

funny

Here is my view:

Deloitte - Thinks they walk on water
PWC - Just a machine, burn and churn
EY - Likes to be politically correct, don’t cuss
KPMG - The unruly red headed child

Also want to know where M1 is

Deloitte-get paid a lot but dont do much and hire ppl for their looks

Same wth Booz!

People at Deloitte seem to get off on referring to their firm as “Uncle D” or “Daddy D”

Sooo true 👏

I would encourage you to focus on where the most negative comments are coming from and that will give you your answer on people and culture. It’s easier to bash another firm when you have nothing nice to say about your own.

I am a recruiter in the management consulting industry. At the end of the day they are all the same and the culture is present in each practice area at the micro-level.
Deloitte is known in big 4 as top pay but you will really work for it- burnout. KPMG known for work life balance as much as that can exist in management consulting.
And I also just want to add that it shocks me to see so much negativity across the board about employers. No company is perfect- politics and pay equity issues exist everywhere. My sense is when you are so critically bashing a company, it is likely you were the problem.

It only takes one really bad director or partner to sour the experiences of dozens of consultants. The structure of these firms allows for this kind of toxicity to persist in a pocket for years and the culture can allow it to go on indefinitely. There is too much power in the hierarchy, too little oversight, and too many blind eyes turned. It's far too common for consultants to be exploited and not feel safe speaking out lest they lose their jobs.

I worked at Deloitte and KPMG. I saw no difference

I don't understand why all 4 of them have been on the fortune 100 best places to work for if it's really that bad.

People WANT to work there even though working there is terrible.

But really these firms are all the same more or less, right? So the standard deviation would be small?
