VOO and VTI

A very fair point

Usually I recommend only buying VTI (US total market) and VXUS (Ex-US total market), but in your case, look at VTV (US Total Value Stocks). I don’t know the composition of your portfolio, but this will probably provide a nice counterbalance to your stock portfolio.

VTV or “Value” stocks that generally are counter-cyclical to tech stocks will probably suffice for your needs.

These are the top holdings of VTV:

Thank you!

What do you mean non-tech? Most are going to have some tech unless they are just a fund of another industry

XBI or IBB for biotech

I love how smart people are in this bowl. Thanks for the post and the comments

@AD1 not sarcastic at all. Sounds like you were born speaking this mysterious language, that if I knew I would be in a much better position đź’°

If you’re looking for sector specific etfs, you can look at state street. I think most of the other big names have them as well

Hi Fishes,
I had multiple offers but I declined those till I got better counter. Now I have only one offer - citi bank
I have total 4.10 years of experience. It's joining date is 31st oct. I was waiting for Barclays offer. I extended joining date of citi twice for that.
Barclays is assuring me that they are done with all approvals. But it takes 1-2 weeks to release the offer. Shall I wait for Barclays offer or shall I join citi bank? But if I wait for Barclays, I will not have any offer hand.

I have gotten more than one talking to regarding being overly eager to cooperate with the other side and push towards a settlement. My boss told me that he doesn’t really respect lawyers who “chase settlements.” I told my boss that I was taught only the most factually contentious cases should be tried and the rest should be settled. He said he completely disagreed. I am concerned that my favorite part of the job is off the table. I LOVE negotiating and haggling. Any advice?

Any lawyers here who might be able to confirm? - I work at a public company and my sibling is a professional day trader at a trading firm. I never, ever discuss my employer with him for hyper-avoidance of illegal insider trading (I’m not even sure if he trades our stock). Is there anything either of us should be doing to be extra safe? Should he be avoiding the stock altogether in his work account? What about personal money?

Do banks (i.e. mortgage lenders / brokers) take your rsus into consideration when they look at your compensation package of a public company since its basically like cash or are they only look at your base + 2 years of bonuses. (I know they want 2 years of bonuses from having worked in the financial services industry where cash year and bonuses are a big part of total tc)

Again, the rsus are rsus of a very liquid large tech company. Assuming this matters in the banks consideration.

Not sure if this is the right bowl but hoping to get some insight. I have a lot of student debt, and am considering refinancing with First Republic bank to get a (marginally) lower interest rate. However, their version of refinancing student loans has changed in the last couple years so now they offer you a personal line of credit. Is it a bad idea to refinance with a line of credit vs a regular student loan refinancing?

I purchased a home with the intent of living in it once DT allowed us to return to office, but the return date kept getting pushed back so I haven’t moved in yet. I’ve been staying at my parents house 2 hours away and plan on remaining with them until the office opens up. Would i get in trouble if I rent my home out? I fully intended on living in the home at the time of signing but covid just got worse so my original plan hasn’t worked out yet.

How should I structure this? $210k in my checking account; of that, $150k is for a down payment in 7-19 months. The other $60k is my general spending / emergency fund. I would like to increase the interest I earn on the above in a risk averse manner. I’m thinking of moving all but $10k into a HYSA. Does that make sense?

I already max out my 401k, HSA and contribute $3k/mo into a brokerage, and I don’t want to dump my down payment into a brokerage.
