It’s a small space so networking is really important.
If you want to be a true investor, I’d suggest reading Lauren Cochran’s Medium posts as a primer (she is the MD of Blue Haven Initiative) and look into different players across the spectrum - you have foundations, social enterprises, think tanks, and other orgs all playing roles in addition to the VCs/PE/family offices/institutional investors/etc out there. Impact is more of a lens so it’s worth thinking about whether you want to work in the impact space or work as an investor who considers impact or work as a “true” impact investor. What role you can and will play will largely depend on your background (finance is helpful, DD work at consulting firms next) but be informed by your interests, if that makes sense.
