Not sure what to make of this. Additionally, is it true that the battle is to get interviews and once you get one, then it’s just a matter of you performing (I.e., you’re no longer competing against classmates)?

I agree with you PWC. To my advantage I work really close to the partner and senior managers and managers of my group. It helped me move up to senior in two years and I'm looking into a manger promotion within a year as per the partners suggestion. I'm scared if he knows I'm gay that it might hurt my chances of moving up fast.
