What are other options besides therapy and meds? I can’t sit through another appointment of someone asking if I’m thinking of hurting myself or others without getting something from it.

Trust me, the system to find a therapist is broken and needs fixing. But you can’t lose hope. You have to find yourself a therapist who fits your needs. I’m sure they’re out there.

Meanwhile, I can’t stress this enough, try meditation. I’m using the Waking up app, in one month I could see difference. Don’t underestimate the power of a few
Mins of downtime a day. You’ll miss a couple of days here and there but I’m sure it’ll help you immensely.

Find another therapist. Try out CBT or DBT. There are therapists that focus on them. They can teach you strategies to deal with things

If I’m able to book a vaccine appt for 2morrow, but don’t meet the eligibility criteria today, but will 2morrow (ex: over 16+) will I get denied? To book one 2morrow I had to select a reason as to how I’m eligible. I selected a random 1 bc it won’t let me move on until I selected 1 eligibility criteria. We’re rapidly losing staff and my stress level is the highest it’s been in a while. Wondering if anyone struggles with a similar problem I do - I was a volleyball player/serious athlete from 10 until I finished playing my senior year of college. I then worked as a full time volleyball coach/assistant director of operations for a super competitive club in south Florida. I’ve been in a pretty dark place for the past week or so. The structure of my day-to-day helps me to compartmentalize and prioritize my tasks over dwelling on my thoughts, but it’s still really hard to give a shit about anything that I’m doing. Anyone have any tips in navigating this?

(For background: I’m diagnosed bipolar and medicated, and have been in touch w my therapist about this already. Just curious to see if anyone else is relating at the moment so I feel less alone, and to see if anyone has any coping mechanisms I might not have tried yet)

Trying to find a psychologist that allows my insurance and almost nothing available. However, a lot of options for therapists / counselors that specialize in anxiety and depression. Really don’t want to see a psychiatrist yet because I want to try to “cure” my issues without medication until it’s truly needed and recommended. Have therapists helped you? What’s the difference other than a psychologist having a PhD I guess?

The best thing for my anxiety and depression has been admitting to myself I despise my job and career, and likely the corporate world, and that attempting to continue climbing the ladder was causing pretty much all my mental turmoil. Moving up the ladder is a fools errand. Every day my mind was fighting me for trying to get promoted because I knew it was meaningless. So with that said, mental health has been best it’s been in a long time. For anyone else in a similar boat, hope it helps.

I asked my office Leads the other day if we could work out a remote working arrangement because my social anxiety makes me too nervous to go back to working in office and they just accused me of not being a team player and not being interested in others’ development. Quick background, 2 yr ago, I agreed to a generous (3.5x required) child support arrangement for my 2 kids bc I thought we’d work it out. The amount of institutional failures at my firm is causing me to have a mental breakdown. I find myself screaming at no one in my apartment, alone, at least 12x per day. Normally I could blame increase in workload on clients or random uncontrollable world events. But it’s right now it’s just us, we just suck so bad.
