What would you do if you were out on a parental leave for 12 weeks? (Besides taking care of your newborn) Taking ideas!
I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.

How do you all handle tantrums from your toddler during dinner? We finally made it out to have a socially distanced dinner with a female friend of my husband. My toddler started getting really fussy during dinner and my spouse continued his conversation -not wanting to leave. I took the baby on a brief walk but that wasn’t really helping. Spouse still did not want to cut dinner short (we were already on dessert) and he kept his conversation going. I sat down and baby is grabbing plates (cont)
Deloitte moms, I need your guidance. For some reason, someone (not sure which team) has marked my maternity leave (LOA) starting next week on DTE and I can’t update it to show PTO. I have repeatedly told the Leaves team and MetLife that I’m not starting LOA until the baby comes (due date 10/31, no baby yet). Whom do I contact to fix the DTE issue? Those with young kid(s) under 2: how do you do bedtime routine and get dinner on the table? I stop work at 6, bedtime is creeping towards 8 pm, and struggling to understand how families prep and cook dinner while tending to child plus bath plus bedtime routine and still have hot meal after kid goes to sleep. How do you all do it? Notes: husband cooks many nights but can work late until bedtime and then I have to do it all (kid and dinner). We aren’t big meal preppers…and do takeout 2x per week.

Any fish here dealt with a lonely/toxic parent? I recently came to the realization that my mom is toxic (think guilt-tripping, saying mother-child bond is sacred, making comparisons, etc.) and has become very dependent of me, and as much as I want to be there I can only do so much since I have a family myself. She refuses to move to a nursing/retirement home, look for companionship, and seek professional help for tasks she needs done such as car maintenance, insurance inquiries, etc. (Cont’d)

Hello Everyone! Had a discussion yesterday regarding “claw backs” being included in a policy for sponsorship if the new employee leaves before 3 years. It was a declining percentage over a three year period. My POV was that it wasn’t something I’ve ever done and didn’t seem like they were sure of the hire they were making. How many people’s jobs would you absorb before requesting your role be re-evaluated/leveled/comp adjusted? I am already doing one person’s job when we decided not to backfill them when they left and just got nominated to take over someone else’s responsibilities while they are out on a multi-month leave. I could handle this if I was an individual contributor but I also have a significant team I’m managing and the additional responsibilities are coming at their expense which is unfair to them.
