Any suggestions for a weekday mother daughter girls day? (I’m the daughter, 26 yo for reference.) we have a car and are open to an adventure day like kayaking (would love activity/location recs) or pampering (shopping, spa type - again would love recs). Ideally within 1 hr driving distance
My worldview changed a bit when I told my 71 year old mother I just started stitch fix and she responds, “isn’t it great, I’ve been using it for a year now.” Huh, my mom is an earlier adopter than me
Left my country 8 years ago to take an opportunity at a US firm. Recently had a call with my mother and my nieces and nephews. This is the first time in my life that I can see my age through my family. Honestly feel like I missed out on a lot of major family events/milestones in pursuit of a better life and career. I’m really considering moving back to my country even though I’m preparing to propose to my girlfriend. Life has an interesting sense of humor.
Flight attendant looks like she's about 8.99999 months pregnant. Im a dude so maybe I don't know better..but it can't be easy being that far pregnant and having to be on your feet like this (contd)
What is a parental leave? How is it different from maternity/paternity? How does Deloitte define parental leave?
Just saw a small child boarding and for a brief moment thought they were going up into the overhead compartment with other similar-sized items.
I’m thinking about leaving my government job for a matrimonial law firm. I had a baby in January & my husband’s job was hit particularly hard by the pandemic (100% commission based & I was already earning more than him). I am enticed by the compensation & have been unhappy with certain aspects of my govt job lately. But I’m also nervous about billables & firm life (I was a matrimonial lawyer 5+ years ago). Mostly I want to provide for my baby girl & not be stressed financially. Advice? Thoughts?
How much money should you make to raise 1 kid in Manhattan? Some factors: public school, 2 or 3 bedroom apartment
I get so lonely. But then when I get around people it start trying to date someone I am reminded that people are awful. I suppose I'll go and adopt a child to love and buy things for.
Just got an offer at ACN as a Strategy Manager and HR made it clear that parental leave was 2 weeks fully paid for men. Theoretically up until 12 weeks is covered by NY State ($900 weekly). What would you do? Have you seen men take a few months off for parental leave in consulting even if unpaid?
When does it end? I feel like every day is so much effort to be happy. I struggle with depression and suicidal ideation, for years. Exercise, meditate, journal. I’m always looking to better myself, I have hobbies, side hustle. My mother told me I should be medicated—nothing against medication, I have taken in the past, just did not appreciate the comment, it was hurtful. People need empathy. Medication is not going to help me find fulfillment in my career, or to find a life partner.
Like any father would do on Father’s Day, just sitting there refreshing my portfolio hoping for a rally.
Whats a gift I can get for a young mom (26 yo with a 2 yr old girl). For more context, i am visiting my best friend, and would love to show her some love with a gift. I would really like to gift HER than her daughter, but cant seem to thinking of anything else but baby items. Thinking $100-300. Thanks!!
I am 23 weeks pregnant with my first... And I'm not feeling baby kick. Should I be worried? The internet says you should feel the baby kick between 18-22 weeks, and to call your doctor if you don't feel anything by 22 weeks. All the online forums say they felt their kid kick at like 16 weeks. Additional context: At 20 week ultrasound, she was moving fine and the ultrasound tech was surprised I couldn't feel her then, which is why I haven't been worried until now...
Baby is 1 month old and we have good and bad sleeping nights. I give him little tynenol and he calms down so could’ve growing pains. Taking cara classes moms: would you recommend the infant class?
We are moving to a big city, and my husband really wants us to choose a housing option that does not have a bathtub. It’s a fantastic house, but that’s kind of a big negative for me since we have a baby and a toddler. Anyone have ideas for ways to “create” a bathtub or something to buy that’s big enough for a toddler bath? Toddler loves his current baths in a normal size tub.
Did your 11 month old baby prefer dad over mom? My baby right now prefers dad so much more than me. He goes to my husband all the time, reaches for my husband, and cries when I hold him (away from my husband) because he wanted dad. It’s hurtful...is this just a phase?
Would you rather be a partner making millions and being engaged with the work or be a trust fund baby with millions doing nothing in life?
Have an offer from a big 4 for supply chain consulting (Consultant level, above senior analyst). Would I be crazy to leave proctor for this?

How bad will the biglaw layoffs be once the market inevitably crashes due to COVID-19? Worse than 2009?
For all the BIPOC doing the diversity, equity and inclusion work at their agencies, solving systemic problems and helping with retention, how many have received raises or bonuses for the extra work? Holding companies are promising donation matching and contribution to causes, but what about to the current employees, who often are paid less than their white peers?
For lawyers, If I post a political message and get fired, can I still get unemployment. Nothing disparaging against my firm.
I was at my prior job for many miserable years, got burnt out, took time off, accepted a new job where I’ve been for 1.5 years now. I’m getting that unhappy and burnout feeling again but I don’t understand why and what needs to change. My work life balance here is good, I actually like most of the people I work with, I have a short commute, a reasonable boss, there’s growth potential and other good things I didn’t have before and may not get elsewhere. Any advice?
I just had my first review and I'm extremely underwhelmed by the salary and bonus (I had a decent rating/review). What do most Consultants receive percentage wise for annual salary and bonus?
Any recommendations for good immigration lawyer?
Started a new job Monday and already thinking of quitting. The role has changed a bit since I signed on, they're expecting me to cover a higher level employee for an unspecified time starting Monday, and no one has even reached out to onboard me or say hi. Thoughts? Am I jumping the gun?
A couple of days ago, my team was taken off all our projects because we didn’t do so hot... but I’ve never worked and cared so hard for a project in my life. #wtfiswrongwithme

Anyone hiring for analytics roles?
Does anyone's significant other unable to WFH complain about us having it easy? I tell her we are getting even more work and add to the fact that I'm also taking care of a 1 year old while shes at work. I feel it's kind of unfair because when shes home I help out but when shes at work its me doing everything on top of work. Just ranting, I love my wife and knows she works hard as a healthcare prosessional. It just gets a lil frustrating sometimes.
Is it normal for people to take a gap year or 6 months to travel in between your first consulting job and your exit opportunity? I’m worried that I’ll never really have time to travel or backpack like I always wanted to without sacrificing my career. Just wondering if anyone has advice or experience with traveling while still advancing their career?
I’m in Consulting with EY 2 years now (People Advisory Services specifically). My real interest is in communications - strategic corporate and political comms. Anyone have any experience of moving into this field from Big 4 consulting? I’m in Ireland so US context likely to be different, but still would love to hear people’s views.
