I want to hear everyone's honest opinions on unlimited PTO policies. Call me old-fashioned, but I miss having an allotted number of days we were allowed to use annually. Seems like there are no companies following that model anymore. Unlimited PTO messes with my head and for some reason I get more paranoid about what people are thinking if I do.
our agency is closed tomorrow for a much needed day of reflection and healing. after a meeting today a bunch of white women in senior management positions started making jokes, trivializing the whole point of closing tomorrow by complaining about how they “don’t have a free PTO day anymore” cuz a meeting popped up on their calendar. needless to say, i’m livid.
How much does a staff two at Mcgladrey or GT make in FSO assurance? Also, how crazy are the hours and how much vacation?
If you get hired at a WPP agency at the ACD level, do they start you out with more than two weeks vacation as a practice? Or is that something you negotiate on your own?
📊Poll: How many agencies offer "unlimited vacation" policies? Are you a fan? Seems to be a growing trend in the agency industry right now
In desperate need of advice here... I resigned from my job three months ago and made the conscious decision to take some time off before finding a new gig due to crippling anxiety and depression. Got the help I needed and I'm doing much better. I have a few interviews lined up over the course of the next few weeks and I'm torn on whether or not to disclose the fact that I've been professionally diagnosed with anxiety and depression. What's the best course of action?
All inclusive resorts are a weird thing. Rich guests come from around the world to over indulge on food and drink for a week repeatedly while being waited on by a staff who will most likely never be able to afford that type of vacation.
Light at the end of the tunnel: my Hawaii vacation. What other trips are people looking forward to in the next few months?
Thoughts please? I have two offers on the table. One for $75k another for $68k. I like the lesser paying job much better. They actually bumped their offer 8K after I told them I had a better offer. They’re checking in tomorrow to see if I’ve made a decision but I would like them to go a little higher -even if it’s just 70k or even add a week of vacation (the higher paying employers package is better) Is it worth it to ask the lesser paying job for more again?
How will you be using your PTO this year?
What are your favorite holiday things to do / see in the city? New here and excited to explore ☺️
Looking for advice - signed an offer from firm A 2 weeks ago with joining date next week on Monday. Got another offer from firm B today with 25% higher package and a better role. I made my decision to take up the role with firm B, but need advice on how I communicate to firm A. Should I (A) Join firm A, leave after a month (B) let firm A know now that I am not able to join on Monday? FYI - Firm B is not looking for me to join immediately + I do not need any time off, I can use the $
just started around two months ago so i dont have enough pto accrued but long story short asked if i can take a break for 2 weeks bc of mental health issues. Am I crazy and dumb for this. I know I need it but at same time would hate to be negatively evaluated or have neg perceptions of me esp w me being so new💔my initial plan was to just work during those two weeks from a diff state (where id visit those close to me for the support i need rn) but bc of tax issues apparently thats not possible
I’m planning to submit my resignation today after receiving a great job offer in private industry. What are the chances CLA allows me to stay on through the thanksgiving holiday? Or would they force me to make the 24th my last day? A couple extra PTO days on that final paycheck would be nice.
Have a great holiday weekend!!
I am feeling guilty today. I took the day off for no particular reason. I’m not sick, nobody needs to be taken to the doctor’s office, there is no family outing planned. I haven’t taken a to. Of time off this year and I just wanted a day that wasn’t filled with something the had to be done. (The weekend was about house chores, family lunch, and church). The team is getting along well if not very busy but I see the email traffic and feel bad that I am not there to support them.
How great would office emojis be in this app?

Any productivity tips when you're literally working 18 hours / day? I like using the pomodoro technique where I work for 25 min and then take a 3-5 min break
I have a coworker on a project who is not contributing their fair share... I'm afraid I'm already viewed as too aggressive in the group so I haven’t been vocal about it. I think I may stay silent.
Pro-tip: Buy "real" food at a restaurant before getting on a plane. It’s worth the extra $5-$10.
My OOO email message starting Monday: I will be out of the office from 9/21/15 until 9/28/15. If this is an emergency, tough luck.
